This Description of Work Duties
Maintains the health of MIHS’ ITSM computing environment by identifying system requirements, installing upgrades and monitoring overall system performance, to include performance tuning, error tracking and debugging. Establishes system specifications, develops custom scripts, analyzes workflow, access, information and security requirements and participates in the design of system infrastructure. Resolves complex problems, collaborating with others and identifies trends that warrant immediate attention.
Ensures stability, reliability and high availability operations of systems to include backup/restoration, standards in systems management, security, capacity planning, and continuous monitoring and improvement techniques. Develops and customizes requirement integration components (SSO, LDAP, SOAP, etc and develops and maintains technical documentation and technical standards. Reviews and recommends solutions that will improve processes and systems. Maintains integrity of systems and data security.
Participates in or leads solution designs and fully documents these in architecture and high-level design documents and delivers a flexible design that is simple to upgrade to meet future requirements. Works closely with business and IT teams to gather input to support ongoing business needs, define requirements, identify solutions through existing functionality or customizations as well as help develop requirements, test and implementation plans and upgrades. Ability to translate business requirements into efficient technology solutions. Involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design and implementation. Responsible for reporting to include data extraction, import/export data, publishing, distribution, cataloging and report scheduling.
Provides effective day-to-day service and support to production issues and takes responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution, using ITIL concepts such as Incident, Change and Problem management. Provides support for monitoring, resolving and closing issues as assigned through ServiceNow system. Evaluates operating system/platform and environment/network change implementation options, benefits and risks, and recommends most appropriate direction. Provides detailed troubleshooting descriptions. Participates in an on-call rotation (including after-hours support) and performs duties as scheduled to support the customer and other internal departments.
Develops and customizes on the ServiceNow platform using ServiceNow’s scripting language, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, proprietary APIs and other Web-based scripting languages. Integrates subsystems and conducts systems/applications level testing, release and validation. Ability to articulate ideas and problem solving approaches for faster resolution, utilizing existing documentation and internet research techniques as a means of knowledge gathering. Provides assistance and training to other team members, and other members of the IT Department including Clinical Engineering. Researches new features and tools which might be useful for managing systems and expanding or enhancing services. Integrates new technologies into the environment as needed.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work in lieu of degree.
Must have five (5) years of professional experience in an enterprise IT environment with above knowledge, skills and abilities. Prefer a minimum of two (2) years of ServiceNow development experience.
Experience should include hands-on development work with ServiceNow and an in-depth knowledge of most, if not all, of the following: Systems monitoring, Systems discovery and event management tools, Server administration, Systems quality assurance and testing, knowledge of SQL and other relational databases, and scripting.
Ability to map business requirements into technical requirements for ServiceNow configurations.
Understanding of Active Directory and SCCM is desirable Web services and integration between hosted and cloud ITSM systems is essential.
IT Service Management and the ITIL business process is required.
ITIL foundation certification is required.
Requires excellent troubleshooting skills, attention to detail and ability to lay out work in a well-planned and organized manner.
Routinely applies working knowledge in multiple relevant disciplines through creative applications to problems/innovation.
This position must be able to work effectively and demonstrate initiative in a fluid, fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of design, coding and testing methodologies.
Strong knowledge of computer languages, including but not limited to SQL, Visual Basic, JavaScript, and HTML.
Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills capable of training users in complex topics to include making presentations to internal groups.
Able to work under pressure and balance work load to make measurable progress on multiple high priority projects
Is customer focused and demonstrates integrity and fosters trust.
Able to write intricate system and user documentation.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects and be self-driven.
Strong JavaScript and SQL programming skills and experience.
Solid documentation and presentation skills are required.
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
Some Web software development experience (HTML, XHTML, XML, SOAP, WDSL) to include familiarity with system programming and web protocols, is preferred.
