Required Skills:
84+ months of SCCM experience managing large environments (i.e. 10K seats, 2K servers, 100 branch offices)
84+ months of Operating System deployment of at least 5K seats
60+ months in a technical lead role
36+ months of experience supporting SCOM, Orchestrator, and SVMM
MCSE Certification or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree
CCNA or VMware certification

Department: New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE)

Description: The Server Operations team provisions and maintains the server infrastructure that hosts the Department of Education’s mission-critical applications like STARS, SESIS, Web portals, and DFS. The group relies on automation and orchestration to efficiently patch, and manage the more than 7,000 servers, and over 200,000 workstations in 2000 school and administrative sites. The tool used to support such large, complex environment is Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM SCCM requires frequent architectural changes to meet the demands of the ever-growing, ever-changing environment, as well as constant optimization of its servers and databases.

Responsibilities:
Manages and enhances the functionality of System Center Configuration Managers 2012 (SCCM) to support the maintenance of DOE''s desktop and server end-points
Performs senior level responsibilities which include examining areas for improvement and architects the changes or solutions to realize the needed enhancements
Optimizes software distribution services to make best use of available storage and bandwidth across a large Wide Area Network comprising thousands of locations
Provides hardware assistance and schedules and performs maintenance on Windows (server and desktop O/S) Microsoft Office, other software applications, and on individual user devices
Plans and performs regular system maintenance on desktop and servers based on end-user, or Business Owner requirements
Conducts a periodic evaluation of disaster recovery procedures and performs related disaster recovery tasks
Interacts with DOE end-users and vendors to resolve issues with vendors'' products
Ensures hardware and software meet DOE security requirements
Troubleshoots and resolves network connectivity issues in the LAN, Wireless LAN or WAN
Ensures a stable performance environment by identifying and resolving technical problems, and participates in various IT projects intended to improve and upgrade the DOE IT infrastructure
Repackages Microsoft Installer (MSI) packages, or executables to customize client-server installations for software distributions
Packages, tests, and publishes Applications using SCCM catalog
Utilizes SCOM, Orchestrator, and SVMM to manage and support desktop and server clients
Responds to emergency calls in the evenings and on weekends.
