Job Description :
Senior Unix Administrators on our team provide technical skills to administer Unix/Linux, storage and backup systems for PBGC Information Technology Infrastructure. Responsibilities include the daily operations of all UNIX/Linux, Backup and Storage. This person will be responsible for providing 24x7 support on an on-call rotation model.

This position requires 5-7 or more years of solid hands-on Unix/Linux experience that includes specific technical experience with Solaris / Red Hat systems administration support for large scale UNIX environments in the following areas:
Performs assigned tasks and projects related to infrastructure and operation support
Participates in meetings with system administration staff, customers and management
Performs Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and 7 / Sun Solaris 10 and 11 server systems installation, configuration, optimization, security hardening and administration
Performs System level support for Oracle applications and database servers, Java application servers and other large-scale databases in a UNIX environment
Strong understanding of SPARC T5-8 Hardware LDOM and VMware virtualization platforms, experience in installing, configuring and building Virtual servers in VMware environment, experience with Open-VM-Tools, and experience in installing, configuring and building Virtual Servers on ORACLE SPARC T5-8 hardware
Requires Shell scripting and/or Perl scripting experience
Requires experience applying OS patch updates for Redhat and Solaris environments
Requires extensive experience in supporting and troubleshooting Linux and Solaris Networking services and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, LDAP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, SSL, HTTP
Requires experience in troubleshooting NFS, SAMBA and CIFS
Requires experience in troubleshooting SFTP and encryption processes i.e. connection direct, pgp, gpg
Requires experience with Sun Entry-Level, Midrange and High-End Enterprise servers i.e. SPARC T5-8, M8000/M5000 and Sun disk arrays
Requires experience in SAN & NAS based environment and ability to provision SAN and NAS resources on Hitachi and NetApp devices
Requires experience with Brocade Fiber Channel Switches for SAN Management
Requires experience with Enterprise Symantec NetBackup Disk Based Infrastructure devices and deduplication
Requires experience in recovering the UNIX/Linux systems in the event of failures
Experience with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity operations on UNIX environment highly preferred
Requires strong understanding of implementing system configuration and hardening to meet security benchmarks such as DoD STIG, CIS Benchmarks, USGCB and FDCC
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work within strict deadlines and with a wide spectrum of people

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor''s Degree in related technical discipline and 5-7 years of operating systems experience. Additional 4 years’ experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance - US CITIZEN or GC Holder

Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) is desired.
