Job Description:
Seeking a Mid to Sr. Linux Systems Administrator, preferably with some AIX experience. Primary responsibilities include maintaining the software and hardware deployments in our datacenters / Co-Location Centers and making recommendations on the existing environment for automation and improving processes. This position requires flexibility and willingness to be on call including nights and weekends on a rotating schedule.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for new system builds and deployments ensuring that the environment is kept up to date leveraging best practices within the industry.
Perform forensics analysis, audits, and other administration tasks across Production and DR environments.
Build virtual machine templates based on requirements from the development and project teams
Build tools for automation of systems administration tasks that include building servers, storage, security and monitoring infrastructure.
Responsible for interfacing with developers and recommending the best course of action for change management into the production environment.
Responsible for maintaining documentation of policies and procedures including system reviews and recommendations.
Maintaining non-production environments and ensuring their consistency/compatibility with the production environment
Communication with customers keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or outages
Desired Skills & Experience:
Experience: 8+ years experience minimum.
Skills
Experience designing, deploying and supporting multi-site clustered Linux environments
Experience operating in a DevOps or start-up culture
Deep knowledge of Linux (file systems, network stack, etc
Extensive knowledge of the IP protocol suite and associated troubleshooting
Experience configuring and operating monitoring tools for Linux system and client facing production applications (Nagios, OMD, Xymon and others)
3+ years Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl)
Some knowledge in AIX.
Experience with Puppet / Ansible configurations
Strong experience with VMWare/vSphere required
Strong scripting experience and proven ability to automate security and other systems administration tools
Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure) a plus
Oracle database cluster installs and configuration a strong plus
Storage experience / working with fabric switches a plus
Working with load balancers a plus
