Senior Project Accounting Advisor

Senior Project Accounting Advisor Job Details
* Works closely with the broader Capital Assets accounting team (especially business-facing teams) to support business needs.
* Leverages depth of technical expertise in capital project accounting and financial systems to capture and record project costs in an accurate and timely manner.
* Review ERP-based calculations for accuracy and consistency, identifying variances to Reporting group where applicable.
* Prepare journal entries using Oracle, SAP, and/or PowerPlan in support of capital project accounting
* Assist Analysts with complex transactions/issue resolution, as needed E.g., cost transfers, BD to Capital, corrections and re-classes, booking material transfers.
* Collaborate with Reporting team to support the preparation of reports (e.g., CWIP, BD costs)
* Liaise with internal stakeholders across U.S. and Canada to identify data needs, support Tax and Regulatory/Audit requirements
* Partner closely with IT/EFS to execute the month-end close and resolve systems issues
* Actively participate in the FP&A Transformation process and continually improve the team''s ability to support the business.
* Support Business Partners on the annual Budget and LRP processes, as well as periodic Forecast updates.
* Consolidate and reconcile actual results providing analysis and commentary to support Actual vs. Budget/Forecast and Actual vs. Actual performance.
* Focus on understanding key drivers of business performance and implications on forward looking estimates.
* Develop and build revenue and cost tracking models.
* Participate in budget system integration projects as needed.
* Interact with other FP&A groups within the organization.
Senior Project Accounting Advisor Mandatory Skills
* MS Access/Visual Basic Programmer.
* Expert in creating databases and reports in MS Access.
* Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement reporting
* Advanced knowledge of capital project accounting policies and procedures in the oil and gas industry
* Strong experience with U.S. and Canadian regulatory practices and requirements (e.g., FERC, NEB, AER, OEB)
* experience with Oracle and/or SAP ERP systems
* BS degree in finance or accounting.
* 7 plus years financial planning and analysis experience in an Oil and Gas Environment.
* Willing to work under tight deadlines on multiple projects concurrently.
* Comfortable working with senior management.
* Proven quantitative and analytical skills.
* Excellent business sense and commercial awareness.
* Excellent spreadsheet modeling skills.
* Proven ability to be effective as a business partner to operations management.
* Detailed oriented, analytical, self-starter essential.
Senior Project Accounting Advisor Nice to Have Skills
* Projects with other natural gas companies is a plus Department.
* Knowledge of PowerPlan preferred
