Position: Senior PostgreSQL DBA
Location: Portland, OR
Duration: 6+Month
Summary:
8+ years of work experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, providing 24/7 support to mission-critical applications and databases
Solid and proven skills in managing database lifecycles - builds, patching, backups, recoveries, tuning
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Working knowledge of prevalent cloud based databases solutions
Working knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices
Knowledge of data management and data processing flowcharting techniques
Knowledge in designing and managing high availability environment.
PostgreSQL DBA experience in a 24x7 production environment
8+ years of database management and engineering experience
Demonstrated experience in architecting a large-scale production database platforms including warehouse solutions
Experience with schema design and data normalization
Understanding of caching techniques both inside and outside of databases
Understanding of common replication strategies
Expertise with Postgres system metrics and optimization strategies
Familiarity with system level metrics and practical use of common Linux utilities
Mastery of one or more of: Python, Perl, Bash or other scripting language
