Description of Duties
The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an individual with strong networking experience that will be responsible for design, configuration, installation, maintenance and support of the network security infrastructure (Firewalls This position performs a variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation, and training tasks to ensure computer network functionality and performance levels to meet business requirements and user satisfaction. This position provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding network expansions, configurations and installations and is responsible for providing network design guidance to application development teams. This position manages data LAN and WAN networks, typically performs a variety of design, evaluation, implementation, and training tasks to enable applications and users to maximize productivity.
Tracks the status of Information Security exposures and works with Information Technology and other stakeholders to re-mediate them.
Designs, documents and implements network firewall designs. Design, document, and implement expansions around volume and capacity demands while considering scalability, security and stability.
Provide support and direction, as it relates to the network firewall architecture and functions, to software development teams to enable them to successfully deploy their solutions.
Ensure firewall devices are configured to defined standards by evaluating a wide range of data, including logs, NetFlow data, centralized syslog, authentication logs, and others to detect security incidents. Take timely action as appropriate: block problem traffic, send alerts and/or investigate when suspicious activity is detected.
Supports the implementation of new Information Technology and Application Development capabilities by participating in product evaluations, rollout plans, and system testing.
Plans and implements network security, including firewall systems (Cisco and Palo Alto), VPN systems, and remote access solutions
Management of all technical security equipment, including Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls on a daily basis
Provide high level technical support and troubleshooting assistance in conjuction with other senior network administrators to ensure maximum network operability and functionality
Work with outside providers to troubleshoot connectivity issues as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS
Expert knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Cisco Firewalls, WAN technologies. (10+ years of experience)
Advanced knowledge of Security/Networking related technology certifications. (5+ years of experience)
Advanced knowledge of packet capture and packet analysis techniques and technologies. (5+ years of experience)
