Role : Senior Enterprise Data Engineer
Location : Dallas, Texas
6 Months Contract with a possibility of extension
SUMMARY
Working independently, the Senior Enterprise Data Engineer leads the technical design, conceptual/logical modeling, Metadata activities, and operation of enterprise data platform. The Senior Enterprise Data Engineer works with developers, analysts and producers to answer key questions about the performance of data and metadata capabilities, develop new capabilities, and troubleshoot problems. The Senior Enterprise Data Engineer works with the DevOps team to ensure the reliability and performance on the data pipeline.
BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience preferred
7+ years’ experience in software development, with at least three years of experience with data engineering
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES
Expert knowledge of structured and unstructured data platforms, ETL and metadata.
Expert knowledge of Erwin
Expert familiarity with ETL workflows
Expert at Using SQL
Proficient ability to remain effective under stress, and respond to pressure in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
Ability to respond favorably to large amounts of stakeholder feedback
Proficient knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
Proficient knowledge of open source tools and platforms for data
Ability to prepare, read and understand project specifications
Demonstrated ability to model customer-focused behaviors leading to outstanding customer experiences
Consistently demonstrates a commitment to GameStop policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement data engineering solutions to support data and analytics capabilities
Work with analysts and business owners to define conceptual and logical data models for both relational and big-data
Advise developers of information management in building ETL workflows to transform data into structures optimized for reporting and self-service analytics
Advise developers in the proper SDLC methods to assure quality data deliverables including Audit-Balance and Control (ABC), code versioning and deployment, etc.
Use SQL extensively to support developers
Use Erwin extensively to design conceptual/logical data models
Use and administer metadata platform(s) to support delivery and business analysis for both relational and big-data opportunities
Setting and support meeting development and production support deadlines
Analyze and perform system design for projects of advanced complexity
Help to develop and set standard coding/data practices
Fully documents all programs, ERD, (etc written or revised
Problem isolation/determination
Manage relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
