Senior Business Systems Analyst

Location: Burbank, CA
Duration: 16 months with possible extension

Description:
Business Systems Analysts study the overall business and information needs of an organization, in order to develop solutions to business and related technology problems. A business Systems Analyst''s role is usually undertaken prior to the system design, building and programming stages of the systems development process. Works closely with clients to identify business needs and the costs and benefits of implementing a computing solution. Construct IT definitions based on identified needs of the organization. Work with other IT experts to address networking and hardware needs. Devise and document a general system design based on the client''s anticipated requirements. Negotiate options with the client.

Additional Job Details
Must have 3-5 years experience. Bachelor''s degree highly preferred. If no degree, must have minimum 7 years of relevant experience.

Business Analyst / Business and Systems Operations Support
This role requires a mix of skills that includes business analysis and business and systems operations support. This is a key role which will support business ownership of applications. The role will provide guidance and direction to business partners on solutions and work with engagements managers and other key staff to ensure appropriate solutions are delivered as well as the provision of business operations support with our production support teams.

Other responsibilities may include:
Defining basic solution alternatives to address business problems, root cause analysis of system problems, providing functional direction to a particular area of the operations or projects. As system development progresses, may have input into reporting requirements/report development, user interfaces and supporting UAT and the final evaluation of the system solutions.

Key Functions:
Become a domain expert for one or more systems, and acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in support of engagement managers’ work involving requirements and analysis.
Produce documentation and training material for business stakeholders as needed.
Applies technical and business knowledge in the analysis of client requirements in project areas such as: IT testing and product acceptance, new business operating models with innovative approaches to IT solutions support, market research of emerging or available product functionality, and operational readiness assessment and others.
Provides analysis and definition of efficient, cost effective solutions supporting business partners’ processes and functional requirements.
Conducts analyses of business partner processes and functional requirements and prepares appropriate documentation to communicate and validate the information.
Recommends basic solution alternatives to address business problems.
Carries out root cause analysis of system problems. Researches and resolves technical and functional issues according to defined prioritization/severity scheme.
Assesses and manages risks to minimize impact to the overall operations and/or project.
Describes solutions to a diverse range of complex problems, which require creativity and innovation within broadly defined policies and practices.
Provides 2nd and 3rd tier application support for assigned application(s Monitors production batch and ad hoc jobs as required to ensure proper functioning and completion of business operations.
Performs a variety of project related activities, including analysis or preparation of documentation and presentations.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum (3 to 5) years of business and/or systems analysis, consulting, or related experience with systems implementation and/or support projects.

Education:
- Bachelor''s degree OR four years equivalent experience in a directly related field may be substituted.

Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrates excellence in analysis, documentation, and presentation tools.
- Strong critical thinking and analysis skills, meeting facilitation, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions (e.g., partnering, conflict management, consulting, etc.
- Must be an independent self-starter.
- Must exhibit efficiency, collaboration, and candor, openness, and results orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of systems development methodologies highly preferred.
- Broad knowledge of technologies and information technology approaches.
- Knowledge of Health plan technologies and management systems
