MUST-HAVE experience:
At least 5-7 years of experience in CheckPoint firewall implementations and cyber security
CheckPoint CCSE certified on R80 release (CCSE at a minimum)

Must be local to Cleveland or willing to relocate for duration of project at the stated bill rate (there may be a small amount travel to other sites within Ohio) - this is a multi-year engagement, so will likely extend for another couple of years. This is a new Checkpoint implementation project, the design being done, these are implementers.

We are looking for a Network Security Consultant in Cleveland, OH to provide firewall implementation and maintenance at a customer site

Responsibilities:
Design, implement, test and operate firewall services enabling ports and protocols to support and protect access to workload applications.
Define and document firewall port and protocol requirements for workload applications.
Review and respond as appropriate to firewall alerts.
Maintain documentation of firewall configurations and designs
Accept and analyze faults logged through the service desk or ticketing system where the fault is believed to be in relation to the firewall(s) and protected hosts or connectivity of devices that traverse the gateway infrastructure.
Accept and analyze faults with respect to Firewall High Availability, Disaster Recovery, or Remote Access
Upgrade Firewall Software once released by the Firewall vendor, as determined by Change Management process.
Provide input into the features and fixed bugs with any new release, and recommend whether it should be implemented on the Customer Firewall infrastructure.
Ensure that any downtime as a result of Software upgrades will be minimized
Provide firewall level monitoring and associated incident and problem resolution. This includes monitoring of CPU/Memory usage and working to optimize CPU/Memory usage so that it does not affect network traffic throughput
Establish IPSec tunnels as required
Manage SSL VPN access rights for designated system administrators
Implement, test, operate and maintain NGFW capabilities such as IPS/IDS as requested
Implement, test, operate and maintain application visibility, and definition and the rules that allow/deny it
Implement tracking and monitoring of all access to the firewall’s and/or management console
Maintain processes to provide for timely investigation in the event of a compromise to the firewalls within the network environment, and work with the Incident Response team as needed
Provide input and documentation in the Change Management process, so that required changes can be approved and implemented on time
Provide input at Configuration review meetings
Generate reports showing rules unused or duplicates and work on removing them.
Suggest improvements to the Firewall implementation to the customer as improvement opportunities are identified

Qualifications:
Desired Skills and Experience
At least 5-7 years of experience in CheckPoint firewall implementations and cyber security
CheckPoint CCSE certified on R80 release
Experience in securing complex solutions on CheckPoint Firewalls
Experience in implementing firewall solutions in large enterprises and an ability to collaborate within a decentralized organization
Experience working in collaborative environments and high performance teams
Experience working in a dynamic environment that requires fast execution of tasks
Ability to interact with senior management as well as technical staff
Knowledge of general methods and concepts of security: vulnerability assessment; Assessment of the protection of confidentiality; Intrusion detection; Response to incidents; Knowledge of networking (TCP / IP, OSI model) and computer security technologies (firewall, IDS / IPS, DDoS, WAF, encryption, IAM, SIEM, etc; Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, UNIX)
Ability to author deliverables of a technical nature and present them to clients;
Understanding of threats and vulnerabilities, as well as information security standards and regulations
Highly motivated self-starter comfortable with working directly with customers
Highly organized, detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills, able to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a complex environment
Ability to travel up to approx. 20% of working time to other customer sites
