Title: Scrum Master

Location: Denver, CO

Duration: 18 Months

Job Description:

This role will manage all aspects of the Scrum process for the Unemployment Insurance Modernization (UIM) project Phase 2 in accordance with the approved solution architecture. This role will work with the Solution Architect (OIT), other Agencies and Contractors.

The role will drive and coordinate agile methods to ensure that protypes and technical artifacts are delivered in accordance with the defined requirements and on schedule. The role should be able to understand the technical aspects of the project at the level that will enable appropriate backlog and sprint planning. This also includes:

Facilitate Agile ceremonies, specifically Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Retrospective and Sprint Review/Demo sessions for the teams

Facilitate and lead individual Scrum teams in all aspects of Scrum: daily standups, planning, self-organization,
collaboration & iterative development

Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values and help drive them towards
continuous Agile improvement by leveraging techniques such as Maturity assessments

Collaborate with other Scrum Masters to create, maintain, and promote consistent Agile practices across all teams
within the organization.

Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution

Assist with internal and external communication by providing Agile metrics and reporting, improving transparency,
and radiating information through burn up and burn down charts as well as other means.

Support and educate the Product Owner, stakeholders, and product management in Agile principles and practices,
especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5-7 years of Scrum Master experience

Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience using Agile-tracking tools (Jira, Jama, Confluence)

Knowledge and experience with advanced Agile techniques such as: TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous
Testing, Automated Testing

Certified Scrum Master and Certified Scrum Professional certification preferred

The UIM Scrum Master must be able to be effective in fast paced environments and possess excellent
communication skills. The role requires a team player who can influence and negotiate with varied project resources.

The role will work directly with agency staff, as well as vendors and, when necessary, other state agencies in fulfilling and carrying out the requirements of assigned IT projects. This work shall be performed in a way aligned with the business needs, contract requirements, end users and with the approved technical architecture.

Preferred experience as a Scrum Master with unemployment insurance project experience a plus.
