Role:SQL Server ETL Developer
Location: Norfolk, VA
Duration: 12-18 month (Contract Position)
GC, GC EAD, or USC
Local preferred or must be able to do onsite interview

This group supports data analytics in the marketing department
This is more than a SQL writer
o More on a DBA level – so need to be very polished
The main focus is having experience in Microsoft SQL Server stack
o SSIS is REQUIRED
o Strong knowledge in SQL
They need at least 6 to 8 years of experience in Micro SQL Server and specifically in SSIS
o Upgrade experience is a big plus
o 2008 to 2016 is the upgrade they are doing now so experience is big
DBA work – will be less than 20%
o Be able to write scripts removing and adding objects
o Mostly ETL work

Will be technical questions both SQL and SSIS
Job Description:
Lead the design and development for ETL processes at Intermodal using Microsoft BI Stack.
Responsible for ensuring that the business models are aligned with the various project needs to achieve strategic goals. The architecture should cover databases, data integrations and the means to get to the data.
Create logical and physical data models that support both user requirements as well as opportunity assessments.
Program in T-SQL and other related language to support application development.
Ability to write stored procedures, indexes, views with minimum guidance. Also able to fine tune existing long queries to enhance the current business models.
Should be able to troubleshoot daily issues with SSIS job/packages on Production ensure delivery of critical data for business users.
Should be able to cooperate with IT standards to follow Ticketing process for smooth movement of new development or existing enhancements across various environments. Should comply with IT documentation needs that NS follows right now.
Expert in SSIS design and development techniques as well as able to understand existing packages and suggest further enhancements.
Ability to work closely with various teams to gather requirements and get started with new projects immediately. This includes ability to keep some documentation regarding new and existing projects. Able to communicate or explain projects to non-technical people with ease
Should be aware of other Microsoft techniques such as SSAS, SSRS, TFS for future or upcoming projects. Knowing Datastage or basic concepts for datastage would be a plus.
Mostly the role requires the person to be fast paced and eager to learn new tools or techniques and ability to understand NS business while working on technical side. This person will be the go-to guide for SQL server or ETL related questions as well as will be expected to handle different projects with ease with minimal supervision.
