Job Description :
SQL Server DBA for a contract engagement for one of our clients with offices in DALLAS TX.

The primary objective of this position is to provide support and operations for the SQL servers and the databases that exists in all environments. This includes maintenance and enhancement of extracts for a migration of data bases from SQL Server 2012 to a Oracle 11i. Depending on the availability this position will also be used for small ETL projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Installation, configuration and upgrading of Microsoft SQL Server software and related products.
Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures.
Create and maintain schedules, builds and runs extracts/procedures
Assist on Database design and implementation for new applications and enhancements.
Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges
Database tuning and performance monitoring. Must identify, track and resolve long running queries.
Setup and maintain documentation and standards, reporting, Data Feeds
Plan for growth and changes (capacity planning) in SQL server environment for all environments.
Do general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams.
Interface with Microsoft (MSSQL server) for technical support.
Must adhere to and follow ITIL processes in place (Problem Management/Incident Management/Chain Management etc)
Attend meetings with clients for requests/projects that are assigned.
Must be capable of working with other team members and be involved in the whole SDLC process.


REQUIREMENTS
At least 5 years of experience as SQL Server DBA in Information Technology delivering high impact technology solutions.
At least 3 years of experience with production systems support and troubleshooting production issues are a must.
Recent, epxeriecne with Migration from SQL Server to Oracle 11i
Firm understanding of SQL, SSRS,SSIS
Visual Studio
