This role is with our client to do a complete inventory, assessment, documentation and improvement of their current database, procedures, functions views and SQL jobs. The Candidate will lead the initial assessment, report of his/her findings to executive management, architect a roadmap to correct and document the current systems. The consultant will be retained to help lead the efforts to implement these plans with a team of others.
Skills needed:
Strong SQL DBA skills with at least 10 yrs. exp.
Unintimidated by large numbers of Databases, SQL jobs, tables, etc.
Strong experience implementing standards and documentation procedures.
Technical Writing experience and documentation experience. The ability to document systems and work flows
Develops reports based on audit points, summarizes findings and recommendations, discuss action plans with management and monitors completion of outstanding issues.
Conducts interviews to gather pertinent information regarding department functions, policies and procedures.
Ability to research, assimilate information, apply strong problem solving and analytical skills, and influence issue resolution.
Great communication and the ability to work with some groups who may not look on this work as positively impacting them. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees
Ability to work closely with C-Level executives and be flexible to change course when needed based on priorities.
Deep understanding of Stored Procedures. Be prepared to suggest removal of unneeded SP's
Experience doing IT Assessments
Ability to work with multiple Core Systems along with multiple IT groups.
Solution Architect level experience
Ensure that new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance
Design indexes for existing applications, choosing when to add or remove indexes
When you uncover an issue about the performance of a particular query, help developers improve the performance of that query by tweaking it or modifying indexes
Experience Designing Tables
Excellent written and verbal communication, interviewing, and presentation skills
