Database Engineer/SQL DBA":

Description: The Database Engineer is responsible for the overall administration, support, and management of the data architecture of a 24x7 customer facing Internet web site. This position will also work directly with the development team to ensure consistent and effective delivery of efficient data access elements as are required for the successful operation of the platform.
Essential Job Functions:
Works with developers to improve and ensure efficient operations of SQL queries, functions, and store procedures
Follow ITIL processes to implement required changes and releases into the database architecture
Creates, maintains, and publishes database standards to the development team
Optimizes the database architecture and develops tests to ensure the continued operation and performance of the system
Provide dashboards and monitoring of critical data elements
Maintain schema diagrams, process flows, and documentation of the data platform
Ensures maintenance of the database architecture to include software updates, backups, and successful high-availability
Support systems and data tiers for 24x7 consumer facing platform, to include troubleshooting and triage
Maintains knowledge of database technology and provides recommendations as necessary
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Information Science/Systems, or equivalent experience and industry certifications
Required Experience: Minimum 6 years as production database administrator; with a minimum of 2 years managing MySQL database architectures
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Experience with distributed database architecture a plus
Knowledge and experience of *nix platforms a plus
Highly effective oral and written communication; ability to explain complex designs and relationships
Authorized to work in the US on full-time basis
