Job Description:
Database Administrator:
Responsible for data analysis and database management.
Maintenance, enhancement, designing of data dictionaries, physical and logical database models, and performance tuning.
Performing short and long-range planning needs for databases, focusing on performance and sizing characteristics to determine upcoming storage, CPU, memory, and network needs.
Participate in the design, architecture, and build of HADR Microsoft SQL Server 2012-2014 and 2016 solutions, including fail-over cluster instances, Always-on availability groups, and Disaster Recovery processes.
Ensure appropriate database backups are in place and are available on contingency or otherwise.
Work with the team in proof of concept and prototyping activities to evaluate whether proposed architecture and database components meet functional and non-functional requirements.
Help with implementing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server database instances with SQL Server Integration (SSIS) and Reporting services (SSRS
Provide technical and architectural / SQL Server DBA support for government / public sector IT operations utilizing ITIL-compliant methodologies for the development and delivery of government hosted IT services and solutions.
Create and maintain documentation for all major installations and implementations.
Explore, actively support and work on new technology initiatives, much beyond the database world that may be of interest to the Organization.
Actively participate and contribute in troubleshooting and alleviating any issues that group may have.
Provide production support including off hour 24X7 support and help with application support and debugging if needed.
Interact with database vendors for Support and resolution of issues.
