Job Description :
The SAS Platform Admin Supervisor position will both participate as, and perform day to day
management of a team of SAS admins who provide operational enhancements, maintenance,
installation and support of the SAS EBI 9.x platform in GRID Setup. This includes providing SAS platform
security management, SAS application and underlying infrastructure support (OS, Storage, SAS
9.2/SAS9.3/SAS9.4EBI Applications, Web and Database) and ensuring processes are aligned with tactical
and strategic information management initiatives.
The SAS Platform Admin Supervisor will also provide guidance, direction and oversight to the SAS admin
team in areas of customer interactions, partner relations, communications, and internal administrative
functions such as weekly timesheet submissions. The SAS Platform Admin Supervisor will insure monitor
workloads and Remedy tickets and provide visibility to SAS Ops work plans and tasks.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES/ACTIVITIES:
Experience managing/supervising an operations team comprised of employees and contractors
both on and offshore.
Experience with Administration, Maintenance and tuning for SAS GRID Manager/SAS Platform
Expertise in setup of queues, prioritization, Manage jobs and thresholds
Experience with troubleshooting and configuration of SAS Grid environment/components
Ensures the overall health of the SAS platform
Perform new installation as necessary
Applies maintenance releases, upgrades and hot fixes as required
Designs solutions to reduce the operational and management complexity of the platform
Designs, implements, and maintains platform security via SAS Metadata and IBM AIX
Performs platform capacity planning and management
Serves as an escalation point for escalated production and/or platform issues.
Executing change control and promotions activities
Establishes best practices and guidelines for usage of the SAS platform
TECHNICAL COMPENTENCIES:
Prior supervisory/lead or management experience
Implementing, administering and supporting SAS Grid and / or other Enterprise SAS Products /
other Analytics products
SAS Grid functionality - load balancing, resource management, setup of queues, prioritization,
manage jobs and thresholds
Provide leadership and direction as it relates to design and implementation for the SAS platform

Technical Lead and global point of contact for all SAS Administrator related projects and
activities.
Own and drive the SAS Product patching and release upgrade activity and act as liaison to SAS
for any support issues
Provide maintenance and support for SAS products during deployment, upgrade and any
changes to SAS products and/ or during other enterprise activities that impact SAS infrastructure
Manage and track SAS products inventory and license updates for SAS servers and end users
Establish best practices for administering and interpreting sources of data
Provide all levels of technical and application support; incident management (Level 1, 2 and 3);
address user, application and data issues.
Manage the configuration support and maintenance of the SAS platform
Oversee, recommend and implement appropriate solutions and enhancements to ensure an
improvement in system reliability and performance
Monitor usage logs to assist in performance tuning of the systems and servers
Create SDLC documentation and ensure alignment to overall SDLC and Change Management
processes
Conform to system architecture standards and practices and work with outsourced suppliers as
required to keep up to date with enabling technologies
Interface directly with various IT functional areas as it pertains to SAS Administration
Address other IT tasks as assigned by supervisor
Perform installation, upgrade and configuration of SAS technology products on all supported
server environments.
Monitor the overall availability and performance of the current SAS technology server
environments and take corrective actions as necessary to insure peak operational performance.
Work with the SAS user community; perform periodic code reviews to insure that SAS
applications are utilizing efficient design principles and adhering to internally published best practices.
Provide solution assistance to ensure that the most appropriate SAS technology is selected to
satisfy the business requirement and to provide user assistance during early phases of the project
lifecycle.
Contribute to the development of standards and operating procedures for the SAS
environments and the development of new service offerings to insure that the user community receives
the highest levels of support.
Responsible for providing SAS technical support to end users and implementing new SAS
technical solutions including:
Helping to establish coding standards and best practices.
Supporting SAS developers with coding issues.
Execute change management processes surrounding new releases of SAS functionality.
Evaluate and recommend new tools and methodologies to assist with change management and
perform upgrades of the SAS environment when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIAL
Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience managing/supervising an operations team comprised of employees and contractors
both on and offshore.
Strong analytical, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are mandatory.

5+ years’ experience administering in SAS GRID Environment
5+ years’ experience administering the SAS EBI Platform
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

3+ years of JBoss and Apache experience, Spring TC experience a plus
5+ years’ experience in and knowledge of the IBM AIX operating system
4+ years of relational database experience and/or SAS Scalable Performance Data Server (SPDS)
3+ years supporting SAS data sourcing and reporting deliveries
2+ year developing detailed technical documentation
Familiarity with Tableau, IBM Cognos and/or SAP Business Objects products preferred
