Role Description and Purpose

The SAP Solution Architect is responsible for the provision of application maintenance and support services to Client’s users and the timely and effective resolution of application-related incidents and service requests as well as development, modification and implementation of Client’s applications. The SAP Solution Architect will effectively translate business requirements into solution designs using high-quality applications that are secure, sustainable and cost efficient from an operational perspective. The SAP Solution Architect will be the SME for the SuccessFactors/HR solution.


Key Accountabilities

Solution Design, Specification and Business Process Design

· Define high level solution designs to ensure they are comprehensive, robust and accurately describe project implementation

· Define functional and technical specifications of the solution including end-to-end processes, applications, application interfaces and infrastructure

· Assess conformance of designed solutions to business requirements including business, stakeholder, functional, non-functional and transition requirements and to Client’s standards and principles

· Manage implications of architectural exceptions

· Ensure opportunities to use previous solution designs and/or upgrade existing solutions are identified

· Ensure solutions are supported and maintained appropriately after implementation is complete

· Lead and direct the design of business processes in line with the new and/or improved IT solutions

· Recommend application improvements noting feasibility, maintainability, internal customer needs and overall cost, benefit and quality


Stakeholder Engagement

· Liaise directly with Key business stakeholders within Asset management to validate business requirements; ensure those are embedded into solution designs; maintain continuous engagement and communication with key stakeholders to provide status updates of solution designs

· Collaborate closely with IT Applications Leads to ensure solution designs are aligned with IT system design specifications

· Liaise with IT PMO Lead and IT Project Leads to provide technical advice in the development of project plans

· Engage with the IT Service Validation & Testing Lead to resolve defects raised with respect to solution design

· Escalate potential issues to the IT Applications SAP Functional Lead and IT Applications Manager in an effective and timely manner


Application Support

· Provide operational support to users for incidents and requests in a timely and effective manner to assist users in maximising the effectiveness of their applications

· Trouble shoot and resolve application issues and incidents by providing advice or training to users, by devising corrections (permanent or temporary) for faults, making general or site-specific modifications, updating documentation, manipulating data, or defining enhancements

· Ensure issues or status updates are accurately communicated to business users and IT management

· Perform root cause analysis, post incident reviews and business impact validation for issues and incidents

· Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the functionality and business processes of Client’s applications

· Create and maintain documentation related to the installation, architecture, configuration, operation and troubleshooting for all applications

· Generate reports as needed for data analysis and troubleshooting purposes

· Escalate potential issues and risks to the Application Support Lead or application vendors to ensure the timely and efficient resolution of issues and incidents

· Maintain flexibility on working time to appropriately support the demands and issues of the day

· Perform resolution of complex issues and support to other analysts as the SME for an application area

· Manage escalated risks and issues from Application Support Analysts to ensure they are identified, analysed, communicated and managed as they arise and report any critical issues and/or risks to the Global Application Support Lead

· Design, develop and code high-quality applications that are secure, sustainable and cost efficient from an operational perspective

· Ensure applications are built with best practices, reusability of code and an understanding of how to use technology to best meet business objectives and end-user needs

· Leverage standard architectures and tools to develop applications that support high levels of integration

· Support the full application development lifecycle of allocated projects including scoping, project definition, design, development and implementation

· Ensure applications are tested and successfully implemented and transitioned into the production environment

· Maintain accurate and complete documentation for all aspects of application design, development and implementation

· Perform proactive application maintenance activities including emergency, preventative and corrective maintenance


Governance

· Ensure all configuration / developments and enhancements meet Client design and change management standards via review process as SME in Transport approval process

· Maintain appropriate documentation for review standards


Metrics

· Level of IT solutions adhering to enterprise standards

· Level of adherence to project timelines

· Level of solution design business value realisation


Role Dimensions

· Develop high-quality solutions and perform application modification and implementation tasks to ensure applications are secure, sustainable and cost-efficient.

· The provision of application maintenance and support services, either directly to users of the systems or to service delivery functions.

· Governance role as the Global SME for SAP Plant Maintenance


Critical Experience and Qualifications

· Tertiary qualification in an IT-related discipline

· 10+ years in a SAP HCM implementation and support role

· 2+ years in a SuccessFactors implementation and support role

· Understanding of SDLC processes

· Ability to understand and interpret complex business requirements and effectively translate into applications solution

· Demonstrated success at developing applications that solve business problems

· Proven ability to design, optimise and integrate processes across disparate systems

· Strong customer engagement and relationship building skills

· Demonstrated problem solving and remediation skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate to technical and lay audiences

· Proven skills delivering continuous improvement initiatives

· A proven track record of delivering high quality customer service focussed support

· Initiative to anticipate situations and problems and ability to advise on appropriate workarounds and solutions


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

· Functional expertise in SAP and SuccessFactors Payroll

· Functional knowledge HR integration with SAP CATS, Plant Maintenance and FICO
