Job Description:

The role of the SAP Release Manager is critical to the planning and execution of the Release Management processes and governance. The purpose of the Release Manager will be to plan, manage, and co-ordinate all changes to the production environment, track metrics, coordinate daily support team assignments, release project management and planning, release management process improvement, configuration management, testing coordination with established testing best practices, issue resolution, and quality assurance.

The SAP Release Manager will be responsible for the successful completion of all of the release management related activities in support of the Department of Treasury’s SAP system used for Business Tax Revenue. This includes the planning, preparation, implementation, and post implementation support to ensure each activity is completed to plan. The Release Manager will lead the SAP production support team, which consists of both contractual and state employees. The end goal of the position will be to ensure that SAP release support and all related activities have been transitioned from contractual resources to state employees with proven metrics that reduce that quality issues as well. be i can be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades

The SAP Release Manager responsibilities include the following:

To act as the ‘Gatekeeper’ to the Production environment. Nothing should pass into production without the Release Manager final approval.

Liaison with Change Approval Board to provide input into the decision making process, input into prioritization across countries, impact assessments, release process capacity information, etc.

Liaison with direct and indirect stakeholders.

Freeze release scope (enhancements from Change Approval Board and incidents from AMS)

Define, maintain and communicate the detailed plan for each release.

Co-ordinate integration where necessary.

Owner of Release Management checkpoint signoffs.

Approve the release into pre-production and production environments. Communication final release contents to appropriate parties and post to agreed central location

Coordination and building of test environments.
