This position is primarily responsible for deriving, documenting and gaining approval for data, reporting / system requirements for the Insurance division with respects to Business Intelligence. The MI/Data Analyst acts as a liaison between business people, who have a business problem, and IT development and the reporting team (e.g., report, data), who know how to create automated solutions. The MI Analyst gathers and understands business needs, determining, documenting and prioritizing requirements from the business and presenting these requirements in a manner that is agreeable, measurable and flexible enough to meet project and stakeholder needs. The MI/Data Analyst may design and prototype solutions and will work with the development team to implement solutions.

1. Responsibilities
Interview end users to determine requirements for data, reports, analyses, metadata, training, service levels, data quality, and performance
Manage the organization and documentation of business requirements (e.g., reporting, data) to ensure the project team develops and implements solutions that meet customer needs and minimize defects prior to implementation
Develop the mockup of the report and/or data solution.
Perform systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future states
Assist with the creation of test plans and pre-UAT testing, documenting and tracking issues and ensuring timely issue resolution
Plan and execute tests to verify that the universes, cubes, data marts/objects and reports, support the specifications and requirements provided by the business unit and are in accordance with business objectives
Provide training on data, cubes, data marts/objects and/or reports, where applicable, to business users with respect to project materials, delivery methods, and timeframes
Coordinate and communicate between business and rest of BI team
1. Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
5+ years of experience delivering data warehouse and business intelligence solutions
One or more of the following BI/Enterprise Reporting tools: SSRS, Tableau, Business Objects
Must have knowledge writing simple SQL queries
Experience in commercial/specialty insurance is a HUGE PLUS
Experience in:
data architecture, modeling and dimensional design
development and governance of successful data warehouse solutions and their supporting environments
delivering solutions using established database technologies such SQL Server
developing strategies and tactics, and in determining the correct prioritization of work items to ensure the best business outcome
Strong understanding of implementation processes and best practices around data warehousing and business intelligence
Strong awareness of delivery and operations fundamentals such as monitoring, data quality management, communication of solutions roadmaps, working with operations teams to implement new solutions, and defining and reporting on end-to-end data management SLAs related to capacity, availability, and reporting
