Reliability Engineer - Level 3

Description:

Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.
Lead execution of reliability, maintainability, testability, and system safety activities. Lead and execute reliability tasks including FRACAS, failure review boards/corrective actions, development tasks such as predictions, FMECAs, BIT development and effectively analysis, HALT, and BIT demonstrations. Provide status on activities as part of Program reviews and Supplier CABs.
Support safety personnel in execution of tasks such as system and S/W safety planning hazard analyses, including functional hazard, sub and system hazard analyses. Support interim hazard classification management, and all package, handling, storage and transportation activities.
Support logistics development activities such as supportability analyses to include Level of Repair, Life Cycle Cost reports, Maintenance, plus Technical Publications and Training, Logistics & Maintainability Demonstrations. Present development status at planned reviews.

Typical Duties include:
Develop reliability predictions using Relex and/or approved prediction methodologies for mechanical and electrical designs.
Identify Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) trends to identify and prioritize failure modes to investigate for corrective actions.
Perform Built-In-Test (BIT) analysis, implementation, and validation
Interact with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, program managers and customers during the investigation, documentation and resolution of system failures.
Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), support Concept Screening Board (CSB) and Configuration Control Board (CCB
Participate in Corrective Action Boards (CAB) and Failure Review Boards (FRB
Support design reviews and test activities as required.

Mandatory:

Experience with performing reliability predictions, using Relex or similar tools
Experience with reliability FRACAS.
Experience with Maintainability and Testability/Built-In-Test (BIT) engineering .
Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience presenting technical findings and solutions to peers, customers, and management.
Strong Computer Skills and Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Experience with FMECA (Failure mode, effects and criticality analysis ) process.

Desired:

Demonstrated ability of solving complex problems which require ingenuity and innovation.
Previous technical team leadership experience.
Active Secret clearance preferred
