Release Engineer - contract to hire
The Release Coordinator is responsible for the planning and coordination of all phases and activities involved in a release. This requires facilitation of release meetings providing recommendations and good deployment plans based on input from stakeholders within various portfolio teams. This role would identify priorities, conflicts, dependencies, and risks for the release and ensures plans are in place to mitigate the risks.
The Release Coordinator confirms that all release deliverables have been completed inline with the release dates and deadlines documenting artifacts such as: (release notes, approvals, communications, contact lists and pre and post-release verification activities)
The candidate should be able to:
Manage environment scheduling, readiness and availability
Coordinate projects requesting release slotting
Code branching and merging synchronization
Coordinate across all projects in a release to support milestones, build processes, testing and best practices
Coordinate with release management and web services for all configuration and change control activities
Responsible for managing the deployment process (upload and release to public)
Manage the resolution of cross-functional and interdependency issues.
Create and maintain the release calendar ensuring good coordination and communication across all teams
Define and refine branching & merging process
Responsible for coordinating our development code versioning process from branch creation to branch merging.
Responsible for working with our enterprise configuration management team to setup, maintain and enhance our code versioning tools.
Required Qualifications
5+ years release coordination developing mobile applications
Source Code (Branching and Merging)
Source control tool experience (e.g. GIT, SVN)
Build and Deploy experience (WAS, JBOSS, WebLogic, Tomcat)
Deployment automation experience
Continuous delivery experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience continuous integration a plus
Practical experience of waterfall and agile SDLC, with particular emphasis on release functions and devops
Experience with fast paced and overlapping product release cycles
Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience working in cross-functional, multi-location teams
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to be flexible in a changing environment
Understanding of the principles and best practices of Software Configuration Management
Experience with IBM Sterling Commerce and ATG platform and tools a strong plus
Education
Minimum Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
