QA Analyst (Full-time position)

Role

The client requires a versatile QA Analyst for the in-house custom software platform (Touchpoint) that continues to evolve and mature. The position will report to the Senior Project Manager. The QA Analyst will work with the business analysts, and the development team (local and offshore teams), and test all new development, changes, improvements, and bug fixes; the QA Analyst will also help strengthen the development testing practices of the offshore development team; the QA Analyst will also help write FAQs for the help-desk team.  

Position responsibilities

The QA Analyst will

independently read and understand the specifications from the Business Analysts; interact with Business Analysts as required
design and generate test cases, that could be shared with the offshore development team at times
use automation test tools for creation and execution of functional and performance tests
run and manage applicable tests for all environments (browser and devices) that Touchpoint uses, and generate test reports; document problems, along with suggested solutions, when applicable
interact with the development team to help improv the quality of testing upstream
be versatile enough to come up with simple quick fixes, when needed, to bridge any gaps encountered – while waiting for the development team to come back with corrected versions
use downtime from QA to review and write FAQs for the help desk; will be required to spend time going through JIRA to organize, formulate, and develop FAQ notes

Experience and Qualifications

The QA Analyst will have

Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience working within a small QA team
Experience as QA Analyst on complete systems/ applications, end to end instead of being restricted to silos
Understanding of basic SQL query usage (Select, Joins, stored procedures)
Experience with Telerik, Selenium, iMacros or other scripting environment, with hands-on experience writing test cases and running them (not just managing others who did the work); Telerik preferred
Experience using JIRA
Good documentation skills; must be able to write easy to understand, to the point, step-by-step How-to or FAQs
Ability to organize and manage work very effectively, react quickly, switch focus but keep on task and target with everything
Ability to ask clear and pointed questions and ability to seek/ pursue answers
Ability in critical thinking and problem solving.
