Detailed Job Description
Codes and performs unit and integration testing of software to ensure
proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical
requirements
Codes, tests, and debugs new software or makes enhancements to existing
software
Writes programs according to specifications from higher level staff or
business analysts
Develops technical documentation
Resolves in a timely manner problems that arise with existing production
applications to ensure the efficient and proper functioning of
application components
Collaborates with technical staff to learn and understand software
problems
Generates a variety of complex and periodic reports and/or data through
database management, data administration and data extraction techniques
Provides general system users and management with system analysis and
feedback
Influences system design by identifying and recommending design and
requirements needs for software enhancements
Mentors and coaches less experienced staff
Maximizes the efficiency of the various software systems by
implementing, monitoring, testing, and auditing new software programs
Assigned to units of work, varies from enhancements to team member on a
large project.
Responsible for gathering requirements, functional and Detailed
analysis/design, testing (unit, integration, system, user acceptance),
implementation, documentation, warranty.
Providing status to Project Manager/Lead, as needed.
Analysis/Design roughly 30-40%, Development (code, unit test, int test,
system test, UAT, Implement, Warranty) roughly 60-70%.
Musts
BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or
equivalent work experience
Advanced capability in software construction, testing, infrastructure,
configuration and operating standards
Advanced corporate knowledge and understands how a change would affect
multiple applications
Advanced ability to make recommendations/decisions in application and
program design, standards and program enhancements
Advanced ability to utilize system traces and debugging tools for
problem/issue resolution
Advanced ability to analyze and model business functions, processes and
information flow within or between systems
Advanced ability to provide guidance and mentoring on programming
practices and techniques to individuals and cross functional teams
Business Experience
Business Analysis, System Analysis, in addition to Sr. Programming
skillset for mainframe DB2/Cobol, CICS and associated tools. IMS,
Database Migration, AS400 experience a Plus.
5 plus years experience with major DBMS
5 plus years experience with coding, testing and design
5 plus years experience with software development methodologies
