Job Detail:
Project manager experienced in executing cloud based projects.
Strategic program to migrate all core business services to the cloud, consolidating global technical architecture and optimizing operational management throughout the organization.
The Cloud Design Engineer within the Infrastructure and Architecture team will be responsible for creating all cloud infrastructure and resources necessary to deploy core business applications to the cloud. Working with Cloud Architects, Project Managers and other technology team members, the Design Engineer will own the implementation of both new and migrated applications to the cloud, with an initial focus on Microsoft Azure.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on and very capable with script and automation technology such as PowerShell as well as the Azure command-line tools and portal. Experience with all facets of managed services on with the Azure ecosystem including but not limited to VMs, networking, storage and operations as well as best-practices in security and resiliency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties for this role include but are not limited to the following: -
Own the Engineering tasks and implementation of enterprise applications on the cloud from inception to production deployment.
Execute PowerShell scripts developed by the team to automate the creation of managed Iaas resources on Azure (and Amazon Web Services where applicable
Collaborate with Cloud Architects, clients and team members to contribute to deployment design and strategy where required.
Work with highly skilled and technical clients in a hands-on capacity to provide pre-release technical engineering support when required.
Follow internal cloud standards for all conventions related to resource management.
Remain knowledgeable on all features of Microsoft Azure services and engineering and contribute to the development of best-practices in engineering where possible.
Represent Global Business Services in a client-facing role, liaising with technology teams and business users where required.
Occasionally work with vendors to conduct proof-of-concepts and vet new solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
Required skills for this role include but are not limited to the following: -
11+ years work experience with the majority operating in a cloud engineering role.
Very strong exposure to Microsoft Azure with specific emphasis on hands-on automation and engineering.
Excellent ability with PowerShell and strong understand and experience within with the Microsoft Azure Command Line Tools.
Excellent knowledge and experience of enterprise deployment best-practices including resiliency, security and networking.
Strong experience with cloud migration projects with an emphasis on database migrations.
Experience working and contributing within a highly technical team and occasionally operating in a client-facing capacity.
Ability to work collaboratively within a remote team where required.
Ability to self-manage and prioritize work across multiple projects and initiatives.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical subject matter efficiently and concisely to team members and clients.
Preferred Skills and Experience
10+ years working with Microsoft Azure
Certification in a Microsoft Azure engineering qualification
