WORK DESCRIPTION:
Austin Energy is recruiting for a highly experienced and effective project manager to manage a portfolio of Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) projects that directly align with the utility’s FY2017-FY2021 Strategic Plan. This position will report to the Program Manager of AMI Operations located at the customers site in Austin, Texas and will be responsible for end-to-end project completion. Austin Energy''s AMI Program is a high profile piece of Austin Energy’s Strategic Plan and Grid Modernization Initiative, bringing with it substantial changes to the utility for both internal and external customers. The successful candidate will have exceptional skills in project management and change management with experience managing AMI or equivalent projects, IT/OT systems integration, meter data management systems, business process redesign, project budgets and deliverables. The candidate must also exhibit demonstrated success managing stakeholder relations, working with vendors, consultants, and cross functional teams.
Essential duties and functions may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned:
1. Direct and manage Smart Grid and System Operations (SGSO) project development from beginning to end, submit proposals, and recommend subsequent budget, scope and schedule changes and/or contingency plans where necessary
2. Develop project scope, cost estimates, human resource requirements, work plans, time schedules, communication plans, and make work assignments to meet project or program objectives
3. When necessary, assist in writing Request For Information/Request for Proposals for external services and business plans for internal executive approval
4. Develop SGSO project plans and associated communications documents, identify and manage project dependencies and critical path, and track and report on project milestones and deliverables
5. Develop written business requirements and models
6. Request the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and where required, from other department managers and participate in the acquisition of required personnel within the City of Austin
7. Define the project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle
8. Effectively communicate project expectations to sponsor, team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion, and facilitate project management and project status review meetings
9. Develop successful transition, training plans and recognition for resources on the project team
10. Assist in the development of a forecast/project timeline and project plan for achieving utility Grid Modernization goals through FY2021
WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS(Required)
Minimum (Required):
Years Skills/Experience
YES Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Business or Management, Engineering, computer science, computer information
systems, or management information systems
10 Demonstrated experience in implementation of large scale IT/OT enterprise applicationprojects
10 Experience in systems integration projects
10 Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI
10 Knowledge of project management techniques, WBS (work breakdown structure)
development, and coordination of people and resources
10 Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, Power Point, SharePoint, and Visio
Preferred(Optional):
Years Skills/Experience
5 Experience leading projects with Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) technologies including head end systems and meter data management systems
5 Experience in developing and managing First Article Testing
5 Experience in Meter Engineering
5 Familiarity with utility business practices and relevant business needs
5 Familiarity with‘Meter to Cash’ testing protocols
5 Familiarity with Software/Firmware Release Management
5 Familiarity with electric meter programs
