The Senior IT Analyst/Developer will design, document, develop, code, implement, and document business applications used to record Point of Sale, general accounting, and operational transactions for the Client. The Point of Sale systems use a replicated site deployment model. The applications use the Progress OpenEdge relational database management system (RDBMS), are written primarily using the Progress OpenEdge Advanced Business Language, run in a Linux environment, and consist of:
Point of Sale – recording of accounting transactions such as sales and returns to customers
Store inventory management – Merchandise inventory control application that automates the ordering, receiving, and counting of merchandise for inventory
Customer Order Entry – Customer order management software
Store operational data maintenance applications
Delivery Scheduling – interfacing with third party routing and scheduling applications Essential Functions Strategy & Planning
Work with the business units to identify business requirements for requested projects.
Identify the technical requirements of projects.
Analyze all aspects of the projects.
Plan and organize tasks, report on project progress, coordinate with additional development teams. Development & Deployment
Produce detailed design documents.
Develop programming specifications.
Design applications that deliver requested functionality.
Write program code to create applications for requested projects.
Create test plans, test cases and test scripts.
Conduct quality control tests to ensure integrity, reliability and validity.
Prepare field pilots of application changes.
Operational Management
Monitor pilot results.
Prepare instructions and operation procedures for production system implementation
Implement requested projects.
Work on centralized systems and applications that provide support to the in-store system.
Provide on-going application support in the areas of both end-user problem resolution and production system operation. Incidental Functions
Position Requirements
Knowledge & Experience
5+ years IT experience.
Proficient with Progress 4GL and OpenEdge Advanced Business Language
3+ year RDBMS experience such as MS SQL Server, IBM DB2, Oracle, MySQL. Linux OS, shell scripting.
Preferred Experience, but not required
Experience with OpenEdge Prodatasets, MQ Series, Progress 4GL XML tools is a plus
Some experience leading projects
Experience with C, SQL, Java, JBoss, HTML, XML, JavaScript, Struts and any Web Technologies
