Job Description:

In order to migrate all Schools Data circuits from Verizon to Lightower, we will need (3) Network Field Engineers to augment our existing WAN staff. This position is diverse and requires an individual well versed in all Network platforms as well as circuit provisioning. These individuals will be responsible for configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, and validating network connectivity to the DOE enterprise network. They will work with other DIIT departments to certify designs and deployment strategies essential to maintaining our network infrastructure. This resource will be responsible for supporting deployment of Lightower connectivity into 1600 + schools, and Lightower backbone connectivity. The engineer shall have excellent troubleshooting skills in order to provide a high level of support. Additionally, the engineer will serve as the technical support person responsible for configuration and maintenance of the Wide Area Network (WAN) and troubleshooting hardware and software devices such as Access-points (AP), controllers, switches and routers in order to maintain efficient functioning.

Day to day tasks:

· Assists in requirements gathering activities as it related to ATS functions.

· Analyzes requirements and proposes file and screen usage designs.

· Utilizing in-depth knowledge of the M204 user language, develops software to meet business owner requirements.

· Creates meaningful test data, engages in unit testing, error corrections, and quality control activities.

· Evaluates system performance. Recommends efficiency improvements.

· Assists in the transfer of knowledge of business programming and business logic to other non-M204 development teams. Plays a critical role in data exchanges between systems including the utilization of message broker technologies.

Requested Qualifications:

1. 84 + Months with Hands-on experience and expertise with Cisco Nexus family of switches, Cisco Catalyst Switches 6xxx, 5xxx, 4xxx, 29xx, 19xx, RSM; Cisco Routers 7500, 7200, 4000, 3600, 2600, 2500, 800; Cisco VPN 3000.

2. 24 + Months primarily providing remote site support for the integration of network equipment via circuit provisioning and testing.

3. 24 + Months designing and implementation of complex network projects to address and resolve business needs.

4. 24 + Months Performing network modification projects in relation to Wide Area Network (WAN), enterprise data centers that include routing protocol configuration changes, router/switch configuration, and firewall/VPN configuration.

5. 24 + Months Meeting with and collecting data from various locations in the creation of practical network modifications for design, development, testing and eventual implementation in the production environment.

6. 84 + Months supporting day to day operations that include routing, switching, firewalls, wireless.

7. 48 + Months working with large LAN/WAN infrastructure and all LAN and WAN networking technologies Knowledge of communication protocols and Cisco communication equipment.

8. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

9. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
