Role: Production Support
Duration: 6+ Months Contract
Location: Columbus, OH

Job Description

Should Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of applications —from ideation and design, through development, launch, operation and iteration.
Partner with engineering teams through design, development, capacity planning, and ramp plans to ensure client continuous to scale and avoid downtime.
Ensure sufficient logging, monitoring and alerting strategies around availability, latency and overall system health.
Scale systems sustainably through automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
Host incident reviews and blameless post mortems.

Minimum qualifications:

BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving systems engineering (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in Java and/or Python, plus experience in shell scripting
Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems internals and administration.
Ability to debug and optimize code and automate redundant tasks.

Preferred qualifications:

Proficiency in managing cloud based large-scale infrastructure.
Expertise in designing and troubleshooting large scale distributed systems.
Great analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong communicator, both written and spoken.

Updates to the JD:

Kafka, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ (ActiveMQ is acceptable substitute)
Cassandra – administration, monitoring, performance tuning
Containerized deployments
Java and/or Python coding skills should be sufficient to commit code for Production fixes/releases
Ability to understand NFRs (non-functional requirements) and contribute to improvements/enhancements
