Production Support Engineer (Big Data)
Complete Description:
Understanding of basic Big data technology stack (Must Have - Hadoop, Hive, PIG, Map reduce, Spark)
Knowledge of troubleshooting Java applications, MR, Spark jobs – Analyzing log files, exceptions, error, configuring log levels etc.
Understanding of basic configuration parameters for MR, Hive, Spark etc.
Ability to understand shell/python scripts and debug
Basic understanding of any RDBMS –MySQL/PostgreSQL (connect using clients, querying)
Strong working experience in Linux
Good knowledge of Linux basics like networking, storage, monitoring, scheduling
General operational expertise such as good troubleshooting skills, understanding of system’s capacity, bottlenecks, basics of memory, CPU, OS, storage, and networks
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Prior working experience in production environments
Solid troubleshooting abilities and able to work with a team to fix large scale production issues
Create run books & troubleshooting guides & knowledge base
Manage customer calls and analyze issues reported by customer
Should be capable of working independently & responsible for L1/L2/L3 Support
Should work with complete ownership and handle all issues without missing SLA’s
Work closely with engineering team and other team for productionizing new use cases, users
Should be able to debug the issues and report appropriately in the ticketing system
Handover the shift and circulate a daily report to stakeholders
Good understanding of incident management process, tools and SLAs
Must Have Skills:
Hands on with Linux
Troubleshooting , RCA Analysis Skills
Hive (Tables, Partitions, fetching data)
Hadoop (Understanding how the data is maintained in Hadoop)
MapReduce (should understand MR Job's)
Basic knowledge on PIG & HBase
Shell Scripts , Python
Java/J2EE
Good to Have Skills:
Jenkins (CI & CD Processes)
Good understanding of Service-now & SLA's
Knowledge of automation
