Job Description:
The Product Owner should create their own manifesto embodying the concepts in this page and in the graphic.
The core aspect of this manifesto will invariably be to understand the product vision and to communicate that vision to the Agile team.
They should understand the business objectives within a wider framework of the market, customer needs, competitors and trends.
They should also be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders to lead the team’s discovery of the product and gather requirements.
These two abilities will help them make decisions that are respected by the Agile team.
Skills
Deep understanding of the customer, industry and competitors
Trained in Leading SAFe or SAFe PO/PM
Product Knowledge: Possesses deep conceptual and technical knowledge in relevant product domain(s)
Prioritization: Ability to prioritize and evaluate product options in terms of both value and risk
Decision-Making & Execution: Strong initiative and motivation – able to make decisions and execute
Vision: Comfortable conceiving and developing new product lines as well as pre-established products
Communication: Strong communicator (verbal / written Comfortable with approaching new people and business units
Development savvy: able to vertically decompose features and identify value and risks
Design Proficiency: fluent with UX/UI principles and design practices
Adaptive: diagnoses the successes and shortcomings of features/releases and changes course based on data-informed learning
Great ability to empathize with the customer and stake-holders
Empathy: Strong empathy / EQ with team members
Good ability to self organize and work ahead of deadlines. Able handle or mitigate large WIP (Work In Progress)
Responsibilities
Content Authority for one Team Backlog providing prioritization of ALL items within
Ensures Stories and Enablers meet Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done and then accepts them in JIRA
Own Prioritization / Value / Risk Decision-making supporting team execution
Single point of reference for business coordination, valuation, and prioritization decisions to support team performance
Understand and support Solution and Program work
Develop and communicate a vision and road-map for the Team
Participate in PI Planning and presents team commitments to the ART
Work with System Architect/Engineering to understand Enabler work
Participate in demos and Inspect and Adapt (I&A)
Participate in an effective Product Management / Product Owner team
Represents the customer and business stakeholders
Champions decomposition of Features into Stories with the aide of the Development Team and System Architects
