Candidates must be W2 and able to work on-site. This a 3 month contract to cover for someone on FMLA. Ideally looking for more Technical PM background rather than a heavy design background.

As part of the Enterprise Procurement organization, the Front End Procurement Program Management Consultant is responsible for developing platform cost projections, and over the course of this work, driving cost optimization initiatives from Concept through Plan phases (ex. assessing specifications, designs, feature sets, supply chain design,.etc of development that involve driving down costs while delivering the mechanical and electrical architecture desired. Provides engagement and analytical support for product innovation activities at Ideate & Incubate phases. Participates in global procurement initiatives and strives to continually improve business processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

-Develop and utilize Cost Modeling tools along with known market conditions to estimate should be cost when assessing design trade-offs

-Develop overall business case recommendations for innovation initiatives by leading and collaborating with x-functional team

-Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing on cost optimization opportunities in an effort to drive down total cost while delivering the mechanical and electrical architecture desired

-Help analyze and identify potential architectural challenges (NUDDs - New, Unique, Difficult, and Different) through working with SQE, suppliers, etc.

-Support DFx inputs in an effort to drive optimized cost and enable challenging design solutions

-Develop product level cost Targets at Concept, Define, and Plan Phases

-Attend and participate in competitive teardowns and identify opportunities on how we line up to competition, and help drive those opportunities into our future generation programs

-Program manage Advanced Engineering, Marketing and Procurement teams to gather necessary inputs towards developing cost targets

-Drive cost optimization procurement specific deliverables such as Cost Bridges and early Total Cost Management (TCM) views

-Collaborate with system architects & engineers on cost optimized designs & specifications across the functional subsystems. port the sourcing strategy by calling out the industry overview, supply chain, cost position and recommendation for Dell management strategy




Requirements

-12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience

-5+ years of experience in Procurement and/or Engineering

-Working knowledge of overall design cycle, landscape, and driving cross functional alignment

-Knowledge of existing electrical and/or mechanical technologies, processes, sub tier suppliers and ODMS

-Fundamental understanding of Design For Cost/Value avoidance

-Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical cost trends

-Cost expertise on structural commodities

-Strong program management skills


Preferences

- Familiarity with x86 technologies

- Strong strategic & influencer skills to guide X-functional teams in the appropriate direction

Ability to understand engineering design documents such as Schematics, Mechanical Assemblies, etc

- Knowledge of server / computer system architecture, and understanding the impacts on overall system design

- Knowledge of hardware & software technologies, including market dynamics

- Ability to build strong, long lasting business relationships internally and externally.

- Strong presentation and persuasion skills with an ability to clearly communicate across all levels of the organization

ACCOUNTABILITIES Drives a core product design team to deliver a product(s), service(s), or solution(s) to external customers. Leads cross-functional, Worldwide core team(s), kicks off programs, establishes schedules and drives meetings. Cross Functional Team members can include Services, Engineering, Quality, Product Operations, Marketing, Procurement, Global Operations, Finance, etc. Drives the core product design team to meet or exceed program objectives (Cost, Quality, Schedule, Features, Fulfillment/Continuity of Supply, Solution delivery across products & service offerings, and Customer Specific Needs Prepares core product design team and extended teams for internal and external ISO Audits for Dell to maintain ISO Corporate Compliance. Manages audit process and drives for success. Establishes clear objectives and deliverables for each program that support the LOBÂ?s business. A Program Manager is often expected to manage multiple programs in parallel. Develops Offer Lifecycle deliverable document(s), schedules timely executive review, and delivers phase reviews along with interim updates. Tracks progress, reports status and makes necessary corrections to achieve program objectives. Establishes working relationships and influences/persuades at the Manager, Director, General Manager, Vice President, and Senior Vice President level. Subject matter expert in product development processes, product/solution areas, and customer needs and usage. Builds effective, high performance core product design teams and provides ongoing performance feedback to functional management. Leads the cross functional team to define the product/solution definition and requirements. Manages the creation, review and approval of the MRD and Phase Exit materials. Works with core product design team and executive leadership to establish quality and customer experience goals for the program. Works with the core product design team to establish plans to achieve the quality and customer experience goals. Drives the creation, review and approval of the Program Plan or Statement of Work (SOW Manages major risks and issues through effective contingency planning and proper escalation. Ensures core product design team members communicate post mortem findings to the appropriate departments. Attaches each phase exit document lessons learned and review lessons learned for the next phase. Manages and communicates program changes post Plan Exit using PCRÂ?s to ensure cross functional/org alignment. Analyzes and reports actual performance vs. Program goals. Drives team to deliver quality results at, or better than, quality goals. Manages non-product or solution cross-LOB initiatives, examples include Cost of Goods Sold management, and Resource sizing/planning.
