Position: PostgreSQL DBA

Summary:
This position is part of a DBA team that provides administration for PostgreSQL databases across the entire enterprise and supports heterogeneous PostgreSQL environments like Development, Test and Production. This individual creates and maintains backups, restores and facilitates disaster recovery in all production environments. Responsible for ensuring maximum up-time with maximum throughput to meet established service-level agreements (SLAs), ensuring backup integrity, and providing support to development and application support groups as needed.
The DBA responsibility includes working with architecture, application development and operations to contribute to achieving a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives both in on-premises and hybrid cloud infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation, Creation and Maintenance of PostgreSQL DB’s.
Administration of PostgreSQL databases throughout the development and production lifecycles.
Handle Backup and Restore/Recovery of databases as required.
Setup DB replication for high availability.
Space Management and Security (User Access) Management.
Design and Develop data migration scripts to consume multiple data sources (Relational Databases, CSVs, LDAPs) and generate feeds into databases / Directories
Ability to analyze multiple database schemas / structures, users and create consolidated tables, SPs, views etc.
Documentation of steps to perform a task to create Standard Operating Procedures.
Works closely with software developers performing database design, database architecture, SQL programming, consultation and technical guidance with SQL server and Oracle databases
Good to have:
Experience in Linux/Windows platforms and shell/batch scripting.
Migration of Databases from Oracle/SQLServer into PostgreSQL DB’s.
Performs database performance monitoring and tuning, including advanced skills in the effective use of database tools.
Experience:
5-6 years of work experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, providing 24/7 support to mission-critical applications and databases
Proficiency in PostgreSQL backup & recovery, upgrade, patching, and performance tuning
Advanced knowledge of SQL query execution, execution analysis & optimization, indexing strategies, partitioning etc.
Advanced knowledge of SQL schema modelling and evolution
Proficiency in various RDBMS replication strategies
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Experience with other database management systems is a plus
