Role Summary:
Provide architecture leadership and direction for the extension and creation of new application components built upon Optum’s Integrated Eligibility product. Collaborate as part of a cross-functional scrum team to deliver new functionality under strict delivery deadlines.
Job Requirements and Responsibilities:
Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business.
Deep understanding of “Cloud-native” and Microservice architecture
Provide leadership and create formal deliverables for solution and application architecture
Incorporate software and system architecture (e.g., infrastructure, network) into conceptual designs (e.g., system flow diagrams)
Ensure alignment of conceptual designs with enterprise, segment and functional roadmaps (e.g. system vision, business strategy)
Ensure alignment and traceability between solution and business requirements
Lead modeling efforts (e.g. data modeling, process modeling, performance modeling
Perform code reviews and ensure unit test and unit test plans are complete
Demonstrated ability to learn new frameworks and applications quickly
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience as an application, technical or solution architect
3+ years of experience with Microservices, including understanding API First principles and Cloud-native design
3+ years of experience with at least one of the following:
IBM ODM rules engine
Salesforce, particularly for customer or business portals
React/JavaScript
Core understanding of development practices with Business Object Model (BOM)
Ability to design solutions within the constraints of existing schemas, frameworks, and tools
Core understanding of SOLID principles and experience in data flow designs
Demonstrated ability to design for performance—response time, throughput, latency, capacity—particularly when business capabilities are composed of Microservice calls
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present solution alternatives and justify recommendations
Experience using common Agile collaboration tools, Rally preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2+ years of hands-on development experience, particularly with Java, Spring, Angular, React, Javascript, Hibernate, etc.
Experience working with COTS/Packaged software customization
Familiarity with Healthcare industry compliance standards (WCAG, Mars-e, Phipps 140-2)
Familiarity with development or devops tools such as Liquibase, GIT, and Kong
Experience working with Portal Applications
Familiarity with data warehouse tools and Big Data concepts (e.g. data lake) and how they fit into an SOA
