Peoplesoft Financials Analyst

Duration: 6 month CTH

Controller Office seeks a Finance Systems/Data Analyst to join its team. This position is responsible for providing support to PeopleSoft Financial systems and managing all ledger modules, including interfaces to other financial systems and PeopleSoft submodules. This position is also expected to work across functions, field organizations and external vendors to quickly and accurately review exceptions, troubleshoot and resolve issues.

In addition to core duties, responsibilities include the following:

Provide functional support to PeopleSoft Financial systems including (but not limited to) opening and closing periods; monitoring and posting sub-ledger journals and interfaces; maintaining chart fields and trees; performing system tie outs; resolving data issues working in conjunction with functional experts; ensuring allocations and system processes are running timely and accurately; and maintaining allocation plans.

Oversee and/or perform duties associated with labor distribution and timekeeping processes; validate time data to ensure time files are reasonable; ensure time data is provided to Stanford University timely and accurately; verify that timekeeping rules are performing as expected in alignment with Stanford pay practices.

Generate various complex monthly/quarterly labor reports to management and department users.

Perform year-end allocation liquidation tasks and provide support to Year-end accounting closing process.

Perform duties associated with cost model changes and implement the configuration changes in PeopleSoft for new fiscal year.

Establish and publish timekeeping and month-end close deadlines; monitor and provide updates on status of reconciliations and tie-outs.

Oversee and support all inward and outward interfaces between PeopleSoft and other systems verifying that processes run to completion and that any issues are resolved with minimal disruption.

Maintain interface mapping tables and configuration data in PeopleSoft Financials.

Work with Functional Owners, Business Analysts, and Business IT with project planning and system testing, upgrades, enhancements and production fixes.

Use financial acumen and accounting experience along with systems knowledge to assess impacts of changes, recommend improvements and troubleshoot issues.

Analyze and report key performance indicators for the Controller Office.

Maintain consistency and integrity of accounting data through maintenance of documentation for system support functions and controls.

Perform ad hoc projects as needed.

JOB PURPOSE:

Specify requirements and/or design solutions for business information systems and incorporate new technical systems to improve work-flow, production, efficiency and effectiveness. May serve as project lead.

CORE DUTIES*:

Translate business processes into system requirements and/or development of systems solutions.

Analyze new business requirements, assist with feasibility of enhancement requests, system functionality, current system use and user needs.

Specify functional analysis and design and work with developers and analysts to recommend solutions and resolve system issues.

Review, research and evaluate software to determine its usefulness and appropriateness as related to existing or proposed business systems; assist or develop preliminary and detailed system design documentation.

Perform testing of new systems, upgrades and patching of existing systems; plan, conduct and document results of testing.

Develop instructional materials, training and job aids.

Advise users requiring assistance in solving complex problems or issues regarding management and business systems.

Analyze data and provide data sets to users for analysis. May include development of operational and analytical reports for end users.

Liaise with external vendors or partners in support of business systems, which may include system development, implementation and/or operations.

Coordinate the implementation of new or modified business systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

E ducation & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and five years relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience in accounting business systems (primarily PeopleSoft 9.2) with a background in accounting/business operations strongly preferred. MBA preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of, computer system capabilities, business processes, and work flow.

Experience with enterprise applications and understanding of database driven applications.

Strong understanding of the software development life cycle.

Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting management studies and in systems analysis.

Current knowledge of rapidly changing computer technology.

Conducting interviews and facilitating group meetings.

Developing and conducting training programs.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs.

Strong listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to design and document complex business systems.

Proven problem solving and analytical thinking and ability to approach problems logically and systematically.

Experience in PeopleSoft Financials.

Knowledge and understanding of accounting and internal controls.

Advanced level understanding of SQL report query and design.

Advanced level skill with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel
