Job Title: PL-SQL Programmer/Database Architect
Location: Baltimore, MD
Duration: 6 months Contract to Hire

Seeking an experienced and enthusiastic PL-SQL programmer for a contract to hire position on an application development team for a first in class dynamic energy company based in Baltimore, MD. Applicants should be passionate, critical thinkers, and highly motivated to succeed in a unique and innovative team setting. You will partner with one or more agile teams responsible for custom software development in support of both internal and external customers. The position will involve hands on development work as well as establishing guidelines, review and governance of database development work and educating team on best practices and ensuring database environments are running efficiently.

Requirements:
7-10+ years of professional software development experience.
Hands on experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server strongly preferred.
Strong analytic skills with understanding of networking, computer hardware architecture, coding software and programming languages.
Strong knowledge of data quality and integrity.
Experience with data modeling and data architecture.
Experience with database administration skills needed to maintain and tune up databases.
Working knowledge of TFS or other code versioning tools.
Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while balancing multiple priorities.
A Good team player, with a passion for collaboration and an ability to articulate high-level concepts.
A Relevant Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired
Working experience on an Agile/Scrum Team.
Experience with / interest in learning Microsoft technologies and platforms, including SQL Server and Azure.
Familiarity with RMAN backups and DataGuard.
Red Hat Linux experience.

Primary position responsibilities:
Research and provide recommendations for a database technology roadmap, including cloud, on premise and hybrid solutions.
Lead effort to secure data assets across the enterprise, working with risk and information security to develop and implement data security policies
Conduct periodic assessments of security, backup/recovery, performance, load and stress testing
Capture and analyze database activity to identify improvements in indexing, file structure, maintenance processes and query performance
Manage releases of database development throughout the SDLC
Work closely with various developers, product or project managers and analysts to design, build and implement new applications or features
Generate procedures, functions and packages of moderate to high complexity with ease
Monitor, recommend and implement changes to PL/SQL packages and stored procedures as needed to improve data processing or performance
Mentor other team members by providing leadership and governance of database development best practices, tools and techniques
Coordinate with remote DBA vendor responsible for primary database administration, back-ups and monitoring
Troubleshoot and resolve database or related technical issues as they arise, demonstrating agility in day to day support of multiple projects and critical processes, including 24 x 7 operations
