Job Description :
The Database/System Administrator works on a team of specialists providing day to day administration of database and system deployment and administration for locally- developed databases and servers deployed from higher headquarters that directly support the AFRC/FM mission related to the financial management systems. The AFRC financial management administration includes but is not limited to evaluating requirements, creating and testing backups of data, providing data cleansing services, verifying data integrity, implementing access controls and security requirements, and assisting developers of data exposure services with engagement of the FM databases. Manage Oracle Databases, Oracle Application Servers and a Virtual Server Environment.

Duties and Responsibilities consist of but are not limited to the following:

- Provide technical expertise to FMXS planning personnel to support sustainment of FM applications and to assist in the development of new FM requirements.
- Provide for virtual server Infrastructure (using VMware) configuration, administration and sustainment.
- Perform load balance administration in order to meet FM requirements.
- Perform local and remote administration of servers throughout the Air Force Reserve Command.
- Manage the overall completion of the downloading, testing, applying, and notification for the security patches and hot fixes for servers in order to comply with Air Force Network Operations Security Center (AFNOSC) directives.
- Development/Sustainment support to include implementing/validating applicable STIGS controls; Cyber Incident Response (execution
- Install and properly configure Microsoft Windows server and workstation operating systems for secure and efficient operation and to ensure compliance with applicable Air Force operating instructions.
- Monitor event logs on each server to resolve hardware/software/security issues on a daily basis
- Interface with the program/developers on maintaining web sites; Oracle and SQL databases to improve both reliability and performance of FM applications.
- Responsible for the server and database administration of multiple Oracle Databases and Oracle WebLogic Server environments.
- Develop various script files using MS/DOS, VBScript, SQL DTS and NetSupport scripting languages to automate administrative tasks.
- Work closely with HQ AFRC, Active Duty and Air National Guard Network Control Center personnel to assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of network connectivity related problems which affect FM web applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems affecting customer utilization of FM web applications.
- Support the FM Functional Help Desk in the resolution of customer calls.
- Coordinates and monitors troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems; documents system events to ensure continuous functioning. Recommends course of action and implements as approved.
- Provide support and data as requested for administrative purposes and in support of the Quality Management System.

- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent from four-year College or technical school. Relevant experience may be considered as substitution for education.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in providing systems and/or database administration.
- Experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL server database structure, indexing, performance tuning, security and administration; knowledge of the fundamentals of TCP/IP networking, Structured Query Language, and Windows NT Server operating systems
- Experience in vulnerability management
- Experience in backup methodologies
- Familiarity with MS/DOS and VBScript scripting languages.
- Specific skills related to task may be required for certain positions (e.g. VMWare, Hyper-V for VDI Virtual System Administration)
- Basic programming skills in VB are a plus


Must possess an excellent understanding of technical issues; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form; ability to work within U.S. Government contractual realm; ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization; and excellent telephone skills.
Successfully perform basic mathematical functions as required in a business and/or engineering setting.

Secret security clearance required
Security+ Certification Required

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an understanding of Microsoft SQL server and Oracle database structure, indexing, performance tuning, security and administration; knowledge of the fundamentals of TCP/IP networking, Structured Query Language, and Windows NT Server operating system; familiarity with the interoperability of network devices such as network interface cards, switches, routers, and firewalls; and familiarity with MS/DOS and VBScript scripting languages. Trouble shooting skills are a must. Professional certifications are a plus.
