Job Description:

Supports and maintains our corporate ERP internal systems and our various databases for our business applications team. Provides support/administration of internal databases. Provides ERP implementation vendor support and guidance for application and database installation.

· Provides database technical support primarily for Oracle ERP applications.

· Provides tuning on various applications database environments.

· Handles installation, release upgrades, security, validation checks, corrections, production migration support and transports to the database environments.

· Maintains and provides infrastructure improvements to existing database applications.

· Conveys to management our long-term requirements for the administration of database applications in accordance with overall information system requirements.

· Acts as mentor for the development other less senior staff database administrators.

· Confers with and advises technical peers and managers on the administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods.

· Assumes principle responsibility for all enterprise database backup and recovery schemes, and database fail-over strategy.

· Provides assistance to our internal development community by consulting with and advising users on various development databases.

· Learns and administer multiple database technologies (e. g. SQL Server, Essbase, etc as required to support business applications.

· Lead or participate in other projects or duties.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

· Ability to design and implement complex databases with respect to access methods, access times, device allocations, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.

· Ability to maintain a database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures and integration of systems through database design.

· Ability to apply professional concepts, experience and company objectives in order to perform an in-depth analysis of situations or data to resolve complex issues in creative ways.

· Ability to work without supervision. Wide latitude for independent decision making.

· Ability to network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

· Ability to listen and understand information and communicate the same.

· Must possess good interpersonal organizational, presentation and facilitation skills.

· Must be results oriented, customer focused, and exhibit good interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.

· Sufficient knowledge of business communication, including telephone, voicemail, and e-mail and operations of office machines, such as photocopier, scanner, and fax.

EDUCATION, TRAINING and experience:

· BS degree in Computer Science or a related field or computer-programming certificate from a trade/technical school.

· 10 years experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, including 10 years experience with PLSQL and SQL Plus.

· 5 years experience managing ERP implementations and upgrades and developing and deploying enterprise Oracle database backup and recovery management practices.

· 5 years experience working in a Sun Solaris/Unix Oracle Database environment.

· Experience with ERP Application Server management or Apache server management required

· Experienced in Unix system administration and Microsoft NT Administration.

· Perl or Unix Korn Shell scripting is required.

· Experience developing and managing an enterprise Oracle fail-over database strategy

· Java or any other object oriented programming experience is preferred, as is Oracle Parallel Server management and development experience with ERP development tools (forms and reports

· Experience working in Oracle 11i and higher strongly preferred.
