Job Responsibilities

The Oracle Application DBA II is responsible for providing and maintaining a quality, high performance database processing environment. The DBA II is a professional who, with some guidance, develops, implements, administers, and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company Oracle and non-Oracle databases. They may recommend process changes or need direction from senior members of the team. May define or seek guidance for implementing a high level of standards for databases but ultimately is responsible for them. May suggest changes to data models, database designs, data access and table maintenance codes. Resolves database performance and capacity issues, and replication and other distributed data issues.
The DBA II is familiar with a variety of the field''s concepts, practices, and procedures, relies on best practices, recommendations, experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and performs a variety of tasks while working under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Reports to the Applications Development Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Writes shell scripts for RedHat Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
Monitors, maintains, and tunes existing database schemas for space, efficiency, standards, and performance on existing databases
Installs, maintains and upgrades Oracle Applications within a multi-tier environment.
Looks critically at patch release notes to advice when a security update, cumulative update, or Service Pack is critical to apply
Develops database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
Develops, implements, and oversees database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.
Modifies Oracle and SQL Server configuration in response to ongoing issues and new releases
Opens, manages, and resolves Oracle Service Requests with Oracle Support.
Clones system development environments from Production Oracle Applications environments.
Prepares patches and conducts maintenance of Oracle Application Environments.
Responds to and resolves database access and performance issues.
Document new and existing databases and database applications.
Performs Oracle backup and recovery processes in a reliable and regular manner.
Understands and applies database structures, theories, principles, and practices.

Requirements
Bachelor''s degree in a related area
3-6 years of experience as an Oracle DBA
Experience monitoring, maintaining and tuning database schemas
Experience installing, maintaining and upgrading Oracle Applications within a multi-tier environment
RedHat Linux
Shell scripting
