Job Description :
Charter Corporate office currently seeks a Network III Engineer for our Information Technology Data Center Team. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Position Summary
This position will be a senior member of the Spectrum Datacenter Firewall team. This team is responsible for the implementation, and operations, of firewalls across the entire Charter network.

Charter utilizes Juniper SRX, Palo Alto, Checkpoint and Netscreen Firewalls

Essential Job Functions:
Responsibilities include:
Advanced firewall change request fulfillment and troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting and response to network incidents and problems including afterhours support via on call rotation.
Working with our internal customers to gather complex network requirements to be used in creating highly reliable and scalable networking designs.
Produce detailed design documents such as Visio diagrams, IP spreadsheets, device descriptions and narratives
Provide Tier III support for the enterprise IT network
Correlate detected network events to identify potential problems or root causes
Assist application and system owners in troubleshooting problematic network dependent applications
Participate in projects that involve existing network infrastructure as required
Participate in a formal incident rapid response process for high priority incidents
Collaborate with the team to insure that an incident''s underlying problems are managed and resolved
Implement network change in the context of incident resolution, problem management and service requests
Be aware of and follow existing network management change procedures
Provide training to team members on an as-needed basis
Work outside of normal business hours when required (scheduled maintenance, outage response, last minute urgent requests)
Assist with network documentation tasks

Essential Job Qualifications:
4+ years of progressive experience in networking and network security, including VoIP, advanced firewalling, VPN''s, enterprise routing and switching
5+ years in firewall technologies, preferably Juniper and Palo Alto, but other products like Cisco, Checkpoint can be considered.
5+ years in enterprise network design, implementation, and operations
4+ years in BGP and OSPF
Engineer level certifications equivalent to Juniper JNCIS/JNCIP or Palo Alto PCNSE preferred
Senior level network documentation skills including master skills with MS Visio
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
Expert level of familiarity in implementing and troubleshooting firewall technologies
Professional level understanding of TCP and UDP including the ability to identify root cause of illusive problems through packet capture analysis.
Professional level understanding of TCP and UDP including the ability to provide insightful analysis based on packet captures.
Extensive experience implementing and troubleshooting highly available firewall clusters
Expert understanding of IPsec VPNs as well as real world implementation and troubleshooting experience.
Expert understanding of popular network communications protocols such as DNS, RPC, HTTP etcetera
Expert understanding of Ethernet and the surrounding technology such as Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1w, 802.1d)
Expert understanding of routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF as well as real world implementation and troubleshooting experience.
Professional level understanding of MPLS networks and Layer3 VPNs
Preferred Qualifications:

Juniper and/or Palo Alto certifications preferred
Experience with Service Now ticketing platform a plus
Education and Experience:
Bachelor''s degree (B. A from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
