Department Overview

Connectivity Services Operations team is responsible for the support of the Local, Metro and Wide Area Networking infrastructure of the bank. This includes implementation of changes to improve network performance and be able to meet strategic business goals. Candidate will also be involved in Operations and Solutions projects and their associated tasks, i.e. implementation, configuration, financials, etc. Some anticipated tasks that the candidate may be involved in are, infrastructure maintenance and remediation, servicing users requests, coordination of maintenance work with external vendors/providers, incident attention and resolution.

Main Job Function

Primary responsible for providing 2nd level support for BCUS Network operations. This involves day to day change implementations, timely resolution of business impacting incidents, escalation to 3rd party vendors if need be and root cause analysis to provide permanent fix to the problem. As a member of operations team, he/she is expected to participate in the team shift rotation, assisting with early and late shifts, weekend work and on-call support work.

Full responsibilities of role

Provides support and manages the Network LAN/WAN/MAN infrastructure layer for the Barclays managed estate.
Own the responsibility for supporting the global data network infrastructure component
In depth detailed knowledge of network infrastructure used within the bank''s group - e.g. Routers and switches, firewalls, LTM and GTM, NAC, Web proxy, DNS appliances.
Takes the lead in technical communication of major incidents
Ensures network accurate network infrastructure support documentation is maintained
Creates and maintains necessary capability, knowledge and skills
Keeps and updates knowledge of the bank''s Infrastructure Products and Services current
Responsible for ensuring that the integrity and stability of the production data network is maintained.
Provides high level support for complex, business critical incidents.
Responsible for Incident, Problem and Change Management for critical and major issues and events
Works with regional and global counterparts, Project Managers and Service Managers for input and to understand influence new solutions and the on boarding of new services

Network Technical Requirements

Strong technical background on Layer-2 switching technology (Cisco IOS switches, Nexus switches), Spanning-Tree (STP, PVST, PVST+, RSTP, Multi-Spanning Tree), VTP.
Strong technical background on Layer-3 routing technology (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
Technical experience on MPLS, multicasting, GRE- tunneling, GETVPN, IPSEC over GRE
Administration experience on following network products.
oFortigate, Checkpoint firewalls.
oBlue Coat web proxy
oF5 load balancers.
oInfoblox DNS
Knowledgeable with the following toolsets
oNetwork management and monitoring tools
oSevOne
oNetScout(Can analyze packets)

Experience Required

3 years of hands on experience with Cisco routers/switches
3 years of hands on experience on firewalls products
Experience of network support and project implementation in a large multi-national institution.

Qualification / Education Required

CCNP certified
