Required Skills:
1. Five years’ experience maintaining and operating a network as well as wireless network installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and monitoring
2. Experience with Cisco VOIP solutions, Call Managers, SIP trunks
3. Experience with Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches
4. Knowledge of data center virtualization fundamentals such as VRFs, virtual port channels
5. Experience troubleshooting routing (bgp, eigrp)
1. Must have strong communication and collaboration skills and experience.
2. Must have excellent oral and written skills, and possess strong meeting and work session facilitation skills.
3. Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, the ability to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines.
4. Must have excellent organizational skills, proven analytical, planning, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
5. Must be knowledgeable in the English language/speak clearly and understandably use the English language.
Preferred:
1. Cisco certification (CCNA or CCNP)
2. Microsoft certification (MCSE)
3. Experience with the design and maintenance of firewalls (Cisco ASA)
4. Experience with the planning, maintenance, and repair of phone systems (Cisco UC)
5. Familiarity with the state legislative environment
Job Description:
In addition to the normal duties of a Network Systems Engineer, the Senior Network Systems Engineer performs advanced-level network design, planning, analysis, and diagnostics.
1. Maintain a reliable and well-performing network environment
2. Provide support for Statehouse phone systems
3. Daily operation and support of hardware, local LAN services, and assigned systems for LIS and other legislative agencies
4. Provide end-user support for LIS and other legislative agencies
5. Maintain proper functioning of applications
6. Plan, coordinate, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot security and VPN solutions with other legislative agencies
7. Develop, install, and monitor a network management system as well as provide network management information to other legislative agencies
8. Provide on-call network support
9. Conduct analyses of existing network software/hardware and male recommendations for the redesign, modification and/or revision to the LISnet system
10. Coach and mentor Network Systems Engineers on specific issues
11. Research latest technology advances in network engineering and advise management and staff of developments and trends
