Role: Network Engineer
Location: Chamblee, GA

Job Description:
Responsible for being the escalation point of contact for all high levelbreak/fix and maintenance issues or events for the XOC.
Provides subject matter expertise for CRAN, CMTS, transport, Video, CDV, HSI and works closely with the engineering teams.
Performs a variety of highly complex analytical duties in the planning development, testing, and evaluation of Comcast’s network.
Responds to escalations and resolves issues that arise from hardware and software failures. Manages network tuning, performance and designs strategies, and makes recommends to improve network performance.

Requirements:
Must be willing to work 10pm – 9am (overnight shift)
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
Experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) (optional)
Previous experience with a MSO (optional)
Industry level certification (Cisco, Juniper, etc) (optional) Highly Desired
Troubleshooting experience with routers, switches, CMTS
Development or Scripting skills a plus (optional)
Engineering, Computer Science
Generally requires 0-2 years related experience
Strong TCP/IP background and the following networking protocols: TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, FTP, SSL, RIP, OSPF, BGP

Tasks:
Performs a variety of highly complex analytical duties in the planning, development, testing, and evaluation of Comcast’s network, including CRAN, CMTS, and the IP platform, and Video platform. Works closely with engineering and national teams on network operations to ensure proper and efficient operations of the network.
Executes existing test plans.
Interfaces with Network Engineering to maintain the integrity of the test bed area.
Tests and certifies configuration, hardware and new features prior to
deployment to the Converged Regional Area Network and Converged
Commercial Network.
Provides technical Tier 5 support for network problems and simulation of network issues.
Works to ensure that all systems and bug fixes are complete in new releases.
Works with vendors on new product releases.
Maintains consistent records and documentation of all tests and certifications.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to produce documentation of operational procedures.
-Works with limited supervision and direction while executing associated functions and responsibilities. Follows operational practices and independently determines/develops approaches for non-routine solutions.
