Description of specific Duties in a typical workday for this position:

Candidate will provide maintenance and support for a large multi-site network

Administer and maintain network routers, switches, remote access servers, network services, and management
systems with assistance from vendor

Proactively monitor the internal and external network, recommend, and implement improvements following
established change management process.

Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment where cross-training in multiple technical and administrative
areas is common.

Communicate with non-technical, functional employees and technical staff across multiple locations and teams.

Create, maintain, and update technical documentation, physical and logical network diagrams, policies,
procedures, user guides, status reports, and other documents, as required.

Maintain all network rack cabling to a high level of order, label all and document all ports and patch cords.

Comply with existing change management and security requirements to properly authorize and document work.

Must be capable of working outside of standard business hours when needed

Travel between Virginia and Maryland offices is required but primary location is in Maryland.

Knowledgeable in application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP,
FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD), and possess an understanding of how to support these
applications / protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances.


Position Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a business-class, enterprise network environment with Cisco equipment.

B.S. in a technical field or equivalent experience

Network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or WCNA are required.

Cisco switch and router administration experience required.

Sound networking knowledge of TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, LAN, and WAN

Extensive hands on knowledge with Cisco switch 3750

Extensive hands on knowledge with Cisco ASA 5525-X Firewall and Palo Alto 3020

Proven ability to perform protocol analysis with network analyzer tools

Demonstrated trouble-shooting and problem resolution experience

Experience with enterprise network management software - CiscoWorks, Solarwinds, etc.

Knowledge of network cable terminating, labeling, and routing.

Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects

Install and maintain network services, equipment, and various devices.

Provide network and host based security, incident response, firewall and VPN management, and administration.

Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices.

Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.

Monitor network usage, anticipate problems and suggest solutions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have:

PCNSE certification (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer)

Experience with Active Directory and understanding of Users, Groups, attributes, and permissions

Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMWare vCenter 5.x and VMWare vCenter 6.x) or Hyper-V

Building and configuring Microsoft Server 2008R2 and Server 2012

DHCP Server
