Position: Netezza Database Administrator

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Contract: 6+ Months

Interview Process: Webex

Duties and Responsibilities

Implement new/modified database objects
Backup and restore databases as appropriate.
Duplicate / refresh databases using RMAN duplication
Upgrade and tune Netezza databases.
Provide troubleshooting support for performance issues
Support database operational processes
Create / modify scripts
Provide on-call issue resolution support
Other duties as assigned


Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
Five – Seven years working as a Netezza system DBA supporting online and batch applications
Able to quickly learn new concepts.
Demonstrated experience with Netezza Striper and Mako Appliances
Demonstrated experience with performance and tuning, troubleshooting,
Proficient knowledge of process control and change windows.
Familiar with database maintenance and database patching processes
Proficient with IBM Support System Tickets
Familiar with nzbackup, Veritas NetBackup connector, EMC Networker connector as well as familiarity with Disaster Recovery processes / drills.
Self-starter with excellent organization, planning, documentation and time management skills
Excellent oral and written skills
Experience performing database creation, backup/restore/export/import tasks (nzrestore) and DB health checks (nzhealthckeck, nz_catalog_size, nz_responders, nz_skew, nz_spu_swap_space, etc
Command line skills, including NZPLSQL scripting
Experience with terabyte databases
