Position: Remedy CMDB SME / Data Analysis
Location: The Woodlands, TX
Duration: 12+ Months
General Description:
CMDB is a single, enterprise-wide repository of all information related to the components (infrastructure, applications, users, services) across the IT landscape and will help IT understand the relationships between these components and track their configuration.
CMDB will rely on automation and discovery tools.
Computing environment:
Windows Server 2008/2012;
Microsoft SQL Server 2014/2016;
BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (CMDB);
BMC Remedy IT Service Management (ITSM) tools (e.g. cmdbdriver, BRDI – data import, DDM – data migration, etc);

Position Specific Skills:
5+ years technical experience supporting / working with applications (at least one large global application)
Strong SQL skills: 2+ years’ experience with SQL query language which includes writing, optimizing, and tuning queries / scripts / stored procedures
2+ years’ experience working with relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle)
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, identify root cause, and recommend solutions
Demonstrated strong analytical thinking when evaluating business requirements, designing solutions, troubleshooting issues, and identifying root cause
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn/understand new technologies / applications (to effectively work across IT projects)
Skills considered an advantage (Nice-to-have):
Prior experience performing data modeling / mapping and designing data structures
Prior experience with webservices and APIs
Prior role as a data architect / data modeler on a project / application
Prior role as a database administrator (DBA)
Prior experience working with a data warehouse
Prior experience with Powershell scripts
Prior database management systems experience (preferably SQL Server)
Prior experience using or supporting BMC Remedy tools
Strong object-oriented design and development background
Prior experience interfacing with vendor support resources
Prior experience working with projects to address technical requirements and complete system design
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain and support CMDB (Configuration Management Database) under the Remedy ITSM (IT Services Management) Suite.
Lead/Assist efforts to ensure data quality and consistency, assist complete technical design work, data modeling, CMDB related project tasks for IT, identify opportunities to design, develop, and code data load / conversion programs / scripts from existing systems into CMDB.
Learn technical details specific to BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and related software
Own resolution of assigned problem tickets, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend / implement fixes
Perform technical maintenance to ensure data integrity within CMDB
Leverage data reconciliation tools within CMDB
Provide technical expertise on CMDB for critical production problem resolution and major operational issues (e.g. integrations to/from CMDB, data loads/reports, data quality)
Leverage technical expertise to proactively provide guidance and recommendations to improve CMDB support and maintain Data quality
Assist with designing common data loading routines / structures to enable scalability (avoids additional design work for future projects which might need data from the same source)
Understand in detail how data is consumed and used within BMC tools deployed by IT projects
Assist modeling to understand data dependencies (deep understanding of data structure: classes, attributes, relationships)
Translate business requirements into functional design within CMDB
Work with business clients to define business requirements
Assist with managing / stewarding change management and configuration management processes
Participate in CMDB design and development for IT projects
Follow proper problem management and change control procedures
Communicate and work effectively with a global team
Ensure security and controls standards are met and followed
