Position: Middleware Administrator

Job Responsibility:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; coursework in MIS and/or advanced IBM WebSphere certification is preferred
6 or more years of experience supporting and administering distributed computing server applications and middleware (e.g., IIS, IBM WebSphere, Weblogic, and Tomcat)
Experience writing technical documentation
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Excellent analytical, problem identification, and resolution skills
Ability to work well both as part of a team and as an individual contributor
Experience supporting IBM WebSphere
Experience supporting Microsoft IIS
Experience supporting Weblogic
Experience supporting Tomcat Strong preference for candidates with significant experience in any of the following areas:
o Two or more years of technical project management experience
o Working knowledge of ITIL
o J2EE applications packaging and deployment experience and application server infrastructure setup and scripting
o Single Sign on
o Familiarity with Kerberos authentication
o Understanding of AD security Token creation processes and troubleshooting
o Log maintenance
o Experience supporting Oracle OBIEE
Responsibilities:
The Information Technology Distributed Computing Operations team is looking to contract an experienced Middleware Administrator.
The Distributed Computing Operations team provides infrastructure and application support to various business lines and works with staff to troubleshoot and problem-solve middleware application issues.
Responsibilities include:
o Provide 24 by 7 on-call administration and support for Middleware infrastructure.
o Provide technical implementation expertise and support to development teams and assist in the maintenance and tuning of a complex Middleware /WebSphere environment.
o Possess a comprehensive understanding of both Microsoft IIS and WebSphere Application Server (WAS) Administration.
o Work with business partners and application developers to troubleshoot and resolve support issues in a timely manner as defined in Service Level Agreements.
o Facilitate and implement infrastructure and application changes following established processes and procedures.
o Implement and maintain Microsoft IIS, IBM WebSphere, and other Middleware platforms. Assist in the design of security controls.
o Design and architect distributed computing platform, procedures, and standards.
o Perform performance monitoring and tuning of IIS and WebSphere environment, systems management, and application configurations including code deployment.
o Provide consultation to local lines of business and assist them, as subject matter experts, with information technology decisions and implementations
o Evaluate and research new information technologies and, when appropriate, recommend the implementation of new technologies to management.
o Work with local and national lines of business to research, implement, and support information technology solutions.
o Develop and maintains project documentation.
o Create and update written documentation according to project and information security standards.
o Provide management with written status reports for projects and tasks
