POSITION TITLE: Sr. Application Developer
St Louis . MO
REPORTS TO: Manager, Application Development
FUNCTION: The Sr. Application Developer develops and implements application changes and is expected to stay abreast of the available technology regarding application development, information delivery and relational database technology.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Design, develop, and implement end-to-end integrated systems.
2. Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
3. Maintain in-depth knowledge of department’s strategic business plans.
4. Develop in-depth knowledge of company’s existing IT architecture/infrastructure, and technology portfolio.
5. Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
SKILLS AND ABILITITES:
1. Advanced understanding of information processing principles and practices.
2. Intermediate technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including current MS Windows Server and Desktop releases.
3. Expert knowledge of programming languages, including VB6, C++ and C#, ASP.
4. Basic knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
5. Advanced analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
6. Advanced understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
7. Intermediate written and oral communication skills.
8. Advanced interpersonal and consultative skills.
9. Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
10. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY
REQUIRED BY THE JOB:
1. College degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering or equivalent experience
2. 5+ years’ experience working as a developer
3. 5+years’ experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
4. Proven experience in internet based systems development.
5. 3+ years of hands on experience with application development tools, including Visual Studio 6 and Visual Studio .NET.
6. 3+ years of hands-on experience with relational database technology, preferably MS SQL Server.
7. 3+ years’ experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment preferred.
