Job Description
The Engagement Manager (Operations) will be responsible for pre-sales, post-sales, design and delivery of solutions for VC clients, with a specific focus (but not exclusive focus) on IT Operations Management. The ideal candidate has likely played a similar role in consulting, or as an Operations functional manager for a large IT department in a complex enterprise.
There is a significant need for information technology competency, across both infrastructure and application domains. Additionally, the candidate should be able to direct engagements at C-Suite level. The focus of the role is on helping clients understand where there are opportunities for improvement in their Operations functions and then in planning and executing subsequent change.

Typical client priorities are:
More effective and rapid resolution of incidents
Improvement in application stability and operability
Visible improvement to key operational metrics such as: mean time to respond; mean time to resolve; number of repeat incidents due to the same root cause; etc.
Reduction in key risks whilst enabling change in support of the business
Evolvution of the Operations function to adapt to the new challenges of supporting Cloud environments and the applications and systems hosted in them

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will include:
Working with clients to understand their challenges and issues
Collaboration with the sales team regarding solution design
Relationship management with prospective clients
Development and presentation of solutions and their business rationale
Contribution to written statements of work
Program / Project / Solution planning, including resource planning
Full hire-cycle management, including workforce planning for contractor/FTE distribution
Managing the delivery of the client engagement and leading a team to deliver quality solutions
Commercial skill, ensuring profitability and active client management for scope creep
Financial management and active operational risk management

Desired Skills & Experience
With strong experience in IT Operations at a senior level, and ideally also a good understanding of application development, the EM is a senior information technology professional, capable of both end to end engagement management and also contributing as an SME. They will also be highly capable at rapidly building trust and becoming a key partner with C-Suite decision makers regarding technology investment.

Their experience affords them a visionary perspective of how IT can behave as a transformative element for a business. They have very clear views on scalable infrastructure and on operational management of IT business functions. They can speak to the operating model which will provide the most return, as well as today’s technologies that will enable the development of the client’s business. They will not be dogmatic, however, and are skilled at tailoring solutions to an individual client’s needs.

With excellent relationship management skills, leadership skills and commercial acumen, they can quickly attend to a topic, add value and then move on to the next task. Highly analytical and able to see through the noise of legacy environments, the EM can act as an advisor and primary point of contact for the client.

They are skilled at handling conflict, able to influence, strategic in their thinking and decisive in their approach to pursuing quality deliverables for clients.
