Position: Director of Database
Location: Pleasanton, CA
Duration: Long Term
Client: "SCIF"
The scope of duties for the Director of Database Services includes, but is not limited to, the following:
The consultant will provide professional services to support the long term IT strategy and planning to include high level analysis, professional reports and presentations, and mentoring, support and training.
The Director of Database Services provides expertise and support in development and maintenance of the Databases.
Provide managing consultant leadership – 30%
Act as a trusted advisor and provide strategic guidelines and directions to improve Database Services support for development projects: -30%
Maintain and strengthen client’s database security. -20%
Provide mentorship of client’s management and staff to enable them to assume responsibility for database maintenance and support including the support of the apprentice program and mentoring of staff. - 20%
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
A minimum of 10 years of technical experience in Oracle , SQL Server , DB2 database administration, Database Administration, Development, Design, Troubleshooting and Maintaining databases.
Hand-on experience in database administration with Oracle including monitoring, capacity planning, load balancing, performance tuning, high availability and multi- sites Disaster Recovery deployment on complex database environments; Oracle 11G/12C, RAC, RMAN and ASM implementation experience is desired.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases, capacity planning, performance tuning, high availability in complex environments and mission critical applications.
Extensive knowledge with complex SQL and PL/SQL programming and optimization.
Proficiency with UNIX (HP-UX), Linux and VMware vSphere.
Experience as an Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) DBA.
Experience in database schema design including logical and physical database schemas design for large scale, highly available and mission critical application systems.
Experience designing and supporting the database components of software applications, and understanding of entire application development life cycle.
Experience in data modeling tools such as Erwin.
Experience administrating Microsoft Windows Server – versions 2008 R2 / 2012 / 2014
Experience building Microsoft Windows Clusters using Microsoft Windows Server – versions 2008 R2 / 2012 / 2014
Experience with T-SQL, PowerShell, VB.Net, VB Script, and Windows Script
Expert with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS), Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services(SSIS), Microsoft SQL Server Analytical Services(SSAS) - versions 2008 R2 / 2012 / 2014
Experience building/deploying SSIS, SSRS packages, SQL jobs and providing SSAS support.
In-depth experience with installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, migrating the above Microsoft SQL Server products to higher versions or/and different hardware or/and different OS, including SQL Server in a clustered environment.
Expert Microsoft SQL Server DBA hands on skills in supporting a production database in all operations, such as troubleshooting daily operational issues
Extensive knowledge with complex Oracle or DB2 SQL and T-SQL programming and optimization.
Tracking, monitoring, and reporting database jobs and processes using various software products
Communicate and prepare management reports to IT upper management and end users
